The unread mail notification

I keep getting the sound effect of unread mail, every time I log in on this character. Tho there's no new mail. Do not have the same problem on any other of my characters, on any world, only this one particular character.
Is this some new feature or is something buggin?

Sorry if you already did this, but have you actually opened the mail though? It's not enough to look at the list of mails, you have to actually go into each new mail at least once to read the message before the notification will go away.

You have to make sure you open it, take contents if any, and if you still want to make sure delete it after it will hold up other mail from coming in after a while.

Yep, reopened all the mail in my mailbox, just to make sure

The way you worded it sounds like this does not happen on other characters, correct?

Can you try and delete all of the mail from the Mog mail, log out, then log back in? See if the sound effect still plays.
