How to do the O5S WAR Cheese on PS4

After joining a few parties, I've seen people ask if a PS4 player without an SSD is even capable of performing the popular "WAR strat" for O5S. I used to think it was impossible to do consistently, but after stumbling on a way to do it, I've now done the strategy without fail on a consistent basis.

For clarification I play on an entirely stock slim PS4 on a 30 mbps connection in the southern tip of Texas.

1. Do not use Inner Release during the add phase
2. Do not pop Sprint during the run to the Doom Chimney.
3. Use the time on the Doom Chimney to set up your Storm Eye's buff.Make sure you are in deliverance.
4. After the chimney shatters and you land back on the platform, keep an eye out for the first ghosts that spawn. Careful vigilance is required! You want to stand in front of the tank ghost before it even moves, so for this you need to start moving to your designated ghost when you see the large puff of smoke.
5. Pop Sprint to reach your ghost.
6. Stand as close as you can to the edge without falling off. If you did everything correctly to this point, you should have about 5-6 seconds on your Sprint while at the edge, just as the ghost is moving towards you.
7. Once you are caught, hold forward on the controller's joystick while also holding the relevant trigger, and spam the button for Inner Release. Do all this while the loading screen is going. The result will have you sprinting towards the ghost with Inner Release ready and as little downtime as possible.
8. Immediately use Fell Cleave first, double weave Upheaval and Onslaught, and then do another Fell Cleave.


This may all seem nitpicky, but added together these little steps save valuable time to pull off the strategy without worry.

That's literally what I do on pc anyway. That's how everyone should be doing it regardless.

About the SSD part, I remember Yoshi mentioning it (during the most recent live letter? Not 100% sure), and he said there's a set loading time, so you won't enter the passenger cart faster with an SSD.

Small nitpick, but you don't even need both Onslaught and Upheaval, just the latter, and two fell cleaves is enough. Although in my case, I only go for one oGCD due to higher ping.

You have kill the ghost before the TB, which only give you 2 GCDs.
Only way to consistently do it, is as described anyway even on SSD.
It just hurts personal dps not to use IR for the adds but it’s a better raid dps increase on the boss.

Padding is frowned upon anyways. In either case, I am happy to share the method that works for both PC and PS4 players.

Second this, and if anything using Onslaught might increase the risk of failure (as well as being overkill) as you could end up delaying your second Fell from animation lock of the double wave.
