Why cant i play my harp in dungeons?

Im really saddened by this. I am an artist and i love performing for my server every night at limsa. Last night i was in a dungeon and tank went afk for few minutes. The rest of us just did silly emotes. I could have at least played a couple of favorite FF classics for my group. Now that players have the option of muting bards music this really should be allowed.

i mean, in a dungeon you should be doing the dungeon not playing a ditty. Maybe if it were at the end of the dungeon i could see it being allowed but most players hit that exit as soon as loot's distributed anyways

Probably something to do with how cross-server parties are programmed but i'm not a dev so i dunno why you're asking me!

It’d be nice to practice songs if someone leaves during the dungeon/raid though.

Funny moments can be had for sure and I'd love for this to happen, but they probably don't want people abusing the performance feature. Sadly the fear of trolls ruin things for everyone.

If you played beta you'd know you used to be able to have minions out in dungeons. Despite what people might say about it being technically possible or whatever, they were there... I can produce screenshots... lol But anyway, back on topic, the reason you can't play harp in dungeons is the same reason they took minions out of dungeons. It's just distracting. People have a hard enough time remembering to use protect and not going for a immediate break as soon as they zone in.

SE did you a solid by preventing someone at the start of the dungeon from refusing to continue until you heard them play their most recently poor rendition of "one winged angel". I mean OP personally may be a harp GOD but I just saying, most people fall a bit short of that and either way, you are in a dungeon largely because you want to cap tomes and not because you want to do a dungeon.

They don't want to subject people to your music, when they literally can't escape you. Out in the world its fine, because someone doesn't want to listen they can walk away. In a dungeon you lack that ability for the most part.

Pretty much this. I used to hang around the Limsa aetheryte plaza, but since this feature comes out I bolt away from it as soon as I teleport in since there are always a bunch of people harping away around it.
