I'm sorry to hear that :<
I feel like even though he played a small part of an FFXIV based TV show that he should get like an NPC or something in the game. I wish the best for the man's family. If anyone hasn't watched Dad of Light I would recommend giving it a watch. It is a truly endearing story.
Thought the show was OK. Story was ehhhh and the pacing was inconsistent sometimes imo. Characters and using the game itself are what made it for me, that and the comedy which was on point. Sad to hear he gone, RIP hopes of season 2.
This is sad to hear. I really enjoyed the show. His character was the best. Rest in Peace.
May you find your happiness on the other side, Mister Osugi!
I just watched this last week. As a mother with 2 very rapidly growing girls, it was very deeply touching for such a short series. A request to SQEX: Would it be possible for him to have his own NPC or questline at some point? I feel this would only be fitting as a memorial.
RIP. Mr.Osugi ; ;

They probably won’t for privacy reasons. It’s the same reason that there wasn’t a Robin Williams tribute, a tribute for Yugiri’s former voice actress, or anyone else not fictional.I feel like even though he played a small part of an FFXIV based TV show that he should get like an NPC or something in the game. The Japanese game industry doesn’t like it. The only exception I’ve seen recently is The Lord of The Mountain on Mt. Satori in Breath of The Wild, tributes in Ultra Sun, and Ultra Moon, and in other Nintendo games. The only reason that happened was because Iwata was of great importance to the company. I think Japanese game developers only do tributes when they actually knew the person, or they feel intrusive. It’s not like In America where people pour out massive respects and prayer tributes. People in the east tend to value privacy. I think the only times that such massive displays of mourning are shown are when someone well known dies, or there is a national tragedy. The thing is, even so, they are still very private about it, and usually extend such condolences in a formal matter.
I don’t think a tribute will happen. It would only be likely if the family asked for it. Maybe if it was also in his will, but I doubt it. If it matters to you in the West, make your own tributes. Perhaps a virtual stage troupe could reinact the show?![]()

I really think this part needs to be considered.
Yes, it's sweet to want SE to give him a memorial, but his family should be put first. They might not be comfortable with the idea of him being an NPC in a game. I remember when Steve Irwin died and every channel where I lived was constantly showing memorial commercials. It left the family in pieces because it never gave them a chance to grieve because his face was constantly flashed at them. To the point that they begged people to stop.
Now if his folks are okay with, then by all means, I'm all for it. But if SE considers the idea I really do believe they should contact the family first and ask if they're okay with it.
