An interesting idea. Besides damage, just having evidence of being out in the world could change the way you feel about those "meaningless" quests. I remember the shock when my characters in Dragons Age were covered in blood and stayed that way. It was a grim reminder of the dirty work I was a part of. "Out! Out! Damn spot!"

Quite a while ago, I received the achievement for killing 100,000 creatures. Imagine if we had to face the horror of that "achievement" (bloody gear; persistent corpses; the haunted and judging faces of those who had to clean up; the vengeful kin; their lawyers?!). But no, we are Teflon heroes (mercenaries).

This has been requested before, but personally I don't think it'd work out. As often as considerable damage is taken and healed it would turn off and on far too frequently, potentially producing unnecessary lag. Furthermore, you wouldn't really have any time to truly appreciate it. Also if it isn't tied to remaining HP then what would it be tied to, not to mention how would it be remedied?

Easy. Just tie it to the equipment condition and have it cleaned when mended.
I agree this would be a major graphics/data burden though. If they implemented it, but then had to provide a user setting to toggle it off for performance reasons, then it's better just to fix a more pressing issue.

People already complain as it is, while it is a nice feature and mend while repairing, not everyone would be able to take advantage do to system specs. Next thing you know people will complain system crashes do to over setting their device and expect SE to make it better lol.

Tied to equipment condition = awesome.
Overlay on the body of dirt marks and scuffs that appear as the condition worsens. Dings and gouges on weapons would be cool too. Functionality wise it'd be a good way to show that your gear was getting close to needing repairs.
I agree it should need an option to turn it off since it would add some processing requirement to users machines.

I don't think it should be just poo-poo'd away as "we have other things that would be better use of dev time". While this isn't what I'd like instead of my new relic quests, I would like the devs putting a little time into it when they could.

That's more worn gear though than worn adventurer. Now that you mention it though worn gear is the previous request I was thinking of lol

We have a better chance of a another Calamity before SE actually cares about Character Creation.

Anyone that knows anything about 3d-modeling/texturing realizes that this requires it's own texture layer for each armor model in the game. Of which there are thousands. It will never ever happen. And it won't have anything to do with SE "not caring about glamour", it's just a phenomenal amount of work for little benefit.

They really can't implement something like this in a believable way when you can be beaten (or fall off a cliff) within an inch of your life yet 30 seconds afterward you're perfectly fine.

It's kinda like how you can get periodically shot up by turrets in Portal with blood spattering the walls everywhere, but as long as you hide behind a wall for a few seconds every now and then you're good as new again. If you think about it too much, it gets a little egregious.

Well...clearly, there are more negatives to the idea than positives...so /thread I guess.
