    game crashing

Starting today, i've had 3 crashes in about a lapse of 1hour.

(tried adding pic to this post but it didnt show up)

First one was when I teleported to Limsa Lominsa, 2nd one happened when I was playing a cutscene at an inn, and 3rd one just a few minutes ago when I was standing near our FC house.

I've had similar crash messages when I unplugged my headset but it didn't bother me much as I'd usually do that after i'm quitting a play session.

Now this is rather annoying as there's no indication on why this happens. I'm updating Drivers now and seeing if Repairing game helps..

Thank you for the reply Nutrafin,

I would suggest disabling any background applications and overlays. Also, if you have not already, update your graphics drivers to the most recent versions.

Have you attempted to run the game in DirectX 9 mode? Does this have any difference?

Zandervont, If you are having similar issues to Nutrafin, you can use some of the same trouble shooting methods. If something is different, please post an update regarding your situation.

We hope we can be of assistance in helping you enjoy the exciting world of Final Fantasy XIV!

Sorry for a late reply, school work and stuff going on.

As for the issue, the random crashes did stop after that one day, however the headset-unplugging is still causing a crash 100% of the time. It's not a big deal but it's still rather annoying having to relog to game every raid night when I gotta plug in my set.

I've tried changing DirectX9 and 11, with no difference
I've had 3 PCs in the lifespan of FFXIV, and all of them had this headset-problem.
    Updating OS/BIOS/Drivers have no effect.
I've used several earplugs, a Razer gaming headset, random storebrand one, and most recently, a Bluetooth set. Each of them have the same results when unplugging (or turning off in case of the Bluetooth one).
I mostly run only Chrome and Discord on background, if any at all. As in case of the most recent PC, I only had XIV on it when I went and tested this issue and it still happened.
I'm only playing on PC and network is Wired. And I usually have no network issues if that helps any.

I don't seem to have this issue on other games, such as WoW, Civilization, etc.

Thank you for the update zandervont.

What kind of operating do you have?

I can suggest a few things that might solve the issue. Your PC might be trying to give you a notification whenever you unplug the headset. This notification may be conflicting with the game and causing it to crash. Try changing the notification settings in either the control panel or settings menu of your PC.

The other thing it may be is your default sound device. If you have no other default sound device (like speakers plugged in), the PC may not know what to do with the games audio and the sound drivers might crash. Try changing the sound setting and playback devices (via the system tray in the bottom right corner). See if this has any impact.

We hope we can be of assistance in helping you enjoy the exciting world of Final Fantasy XIV!

    Coming back to the issue.

Tonight I had 3 game crashes during Kefka Savage, all with no background programs running except Discord. I also did a fresh install earlier today for making sure it was not the game files. It was all fine for some 3 hours but during a break I teleported to Uldah and was immediately greeted with a windows-crash notification (this time it wasnt a dx11 error, just the typical Windows has encountered an error-thing).
After that it was fine until break was over and went back for Kefka. During the fight it kept crashing 2 times in 15 minutes, and then started to be fine again.
I'm using win10, latest updates. Not sure if it matters but I have XIV on my 2nd SSD (not the main drive).

That's interesting, I just had my first crash in a long time yesterday. No error message though, just game freeze up and after a while Windows said it looks like something has gone wrong, would you like to close the program. Happened during Titan (normal, light party) and I was the healer so the rest of the party wiped while I was trying to reload the game and log back in.

Well, my girlfriend has been having the same problem. Again.
And once again, this started to happen after a patch/maintenance.

    Her system:

    Motherboard: Intel DH61BR
    CPU: Intel Core i5-3330
    RAM: 8GB
    OS: Windows 7 Ultimate x64
    GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070

She's just playing and suddenly the game freezes, she can still hear sounds of stuff happening but the screen is frozen. If she tries to move, I can see her character moving a bit, but eventually it crashes.
Sometimes the screen just goes black and it says directx fatal error and the game closes, or the game disconnects and gives a 90002, 90001 or 90006 message.

Most of the time she plays with pingzapper, discord and chrome on the background, but we have tried to run just the game and it still crashes.

The last time this happened, back in Heavensward, we reinstalled the game from scratch and it fixed the problem. This time, it did not work.

    We have tried:

    - Reinstalling the game
    - Updated the GPU video drivers (we even made a clean install of the latest drivers)
    - Disabling all kinds of overlays, including Windows Aero
    - Fiddled with boosts and slight voltage increases in EVGA experience
    - Fiddled with the game's graphic settings
    - Fiddled with nvidia control panel, forcing the gpu to ignore energy saving and focus on performance
    - We tried launching ffxiv both on directx11 and directx9, and both eventually crash

And we did some other stuff that I dont quite remember.

Some of these improved the situation a bit. She would freeze all the time, anywhere. Now freezes more frequently while we're raiding. Which still sucks a lot.

Oh, btw, we tried stress tests with FurMark, and things went fine. She can also play Overwatch and Witcher 3, both on the highest settings, with absolutely no problem, so it's something specific to FFXIV.
Something broke after the last patch/maintenance.
We dont know what else we can do.
