Cannot login Main char only

every time i try to log into main Character it shows my character standing there for a while then message pops up
An unexpected error has occurred. Exiting FINAL FANTASY XIV.(17)
I have no problem logging into any of my other characters

- Everything you have tried to resolve the issue-made sure all my drivers are up to date, reset settings
the problem i m having is I can not log on to my main character Moon Mystic world Diabolos logout in Limsa Lominsa i can log into all my other characters and play them except for my main which i just started Heavensward. when i try logging into my main character it just shows him standing there after a few minutes An unexpected error has occurred. Exiting FINAL FANTASY XIV.(17) message pops up and closes the game.
Really Really don't want to have to try to uninstall the game and then reinstall as it takes 10-15hrs to install this game and i already lost a day of game play and don't want to lose another seeing as the game works fine for all my other characters.

no nothing i was playing yesterday night logged off and when i went to log on next morning i couldn't log into my main character

As you are reluctant to try a reinstallation, I'll recommend a few things that may solve the issue. Just be aware that reinstalling might solve the issue if these don't. Here are a few things we can try:

First, try a wired connection as opposed to the wireless one you are using, as well as resetting your router by turning it off and back on.
Second, you can try doing a clean boot. Simply open the task manager and select the 'Start up' Tab. Disable everything here and restart the PC.
Update your graphics card drivers .
Make sure your anti-virus/firewall has an exception for the game.
Check the following Port Ranges on your router/modem to ensure that the following Port Ranges have been opened/forwarded/triggered:

54992 through 54994,
55006 through 55007,
55021 through 55040
Your ISP may forward these ports for you.*

none of that worked seems like i have no choice but to uninstall and reinstall the game and hope that works and another day wasted

i have now uninstalled and reinstalled the game and i still cannot log on to my main character

When you reinstalled the game, did you touch the Final Fantasy XIV files in the 'My Documents' folder? If not, try deleting those and see if you can log into your character.

ok went to my documents and deleted all of it and seems to have worked i m now able to login to my main character whether i have anymore trouble will have to wait a few hours until i have actual time to play . And thank you for all your help
