Only having one job leveled up is what burned me out on this game when I started. After weeks of nothing but ex roulette as BLM in 3.0, I grew bored of the game and didn’t play for all of 3.1 as a result. Came back for 3.2, decided to step out and try other jobs for a change of pace, and I haven’t stopped playing since.

I've stopped doing daily roulettes altogether because of how draining it is. Instead, I cap my tomes farming the current primals for their mounts and gearing up jobs I like playing. DRG (main) - savage raids, DRK - normal raids, SAM - selfish fun. Susano and Lakshmi are done, im 50+ totems on Shinryu and Byakko each. In between that, I enjoy joking around with my FC and learning songs on the harp. None of these things have to take more than 2 hours of my day so I'm able to come and go as often as I need, and I think that's really important as to why I'm not burnt out.

This game is not a game suited for a "one main only" type of playstyle, full stop. Expansion endgame content comes out at a trickle because the developers are basically anticipating that people want to level and gear up multiple jobs through the course of a patches' life cycle. I can completely sympathize with the OP, tbh - I'm a healer main, I have some other things leveled but literally don't touch any level-capped content with other jobs because healing is what I like to do. I don't expect XIV to change an aspect of its game design that people really love, but I wouldn't want people to tell me to "just do stuff you're not interested in just for the sake of doing it" if I said I was bored. Instead I think the best response is probably, "play something else until some new endgame comes out for your tank class", which is precisely what I do between content updates.
Couldn't summarize it better, myself. Unfortunately, if you only like one or two features, FFXIV just won't hold your interest for long unless you pour yourself into it. Some people do literally nothing except craft and love it, for example. If you only want to raid with your static and do little else, FFXIV may not be a game you'll consistently play. The overwhelming majority of content is very easy and endgame basically revolves around Savage. I think we're all hoping Eureka offers something else, though it remains to be seen.

I simply love the game, the art style, and most of the music. Plus The only thing it has to do to hold my attention is keep being what it is. Honestly I don't get the burn out people get with mmos or this game. Tho keep in my I'm a guy who can listen to one song on repeat for a year nonstop. - I've done this... song was called Everyday by Incognito- ( great song ) But it sounds like this isn't the game for you man.

Just to reinstate, I love a lotta things about the game....the dungeons and open world especially, but neither of those can help advance my character in anyway that I know of....which makes me sad.

I just can’t believe it took such a short time to reach this point in the game, it took me a long time to get this point in WoW and other than the PvP, this game beats WoW in many aspects.

I trying hard to find a reason to keep going, because so many good aspects of the game, but it seems a majority of it, requires me to start another class, etc...

The "you are everything" aspect is HUGE in this game. They expect you to play multiple jobs, do multiple runs of the same content and grind endgame gear more than once even with the tome limit (if you max out every week you still have enough to do a couple jobs before it gets uncapped) . If you "run" to 70 and then max out your gear for one class and don't want to do any others? You're pretty done. I won't go over it again since it's been exhaustively covered in the thread, but I will chime in to the "maybe take a break" or "maybe this isn't your game" crowd. It's all we have right now. Gear progression is limited every expansion and unless you're into non-stat increasing progression you're done as soon as you gear that one job.

Maybe do a relic weapon questline? That'll eat up a couple weeks unless you binge on light parties and even then it's just for the glamour (true endgame lol) .

Right now I am doing the ixal dailies to level all the crafters at once (5 levels or so and then switch, etc), standing around in Limsa playing final fantasy music on bard, and running in-progress mentor roulette as healer. I would say the atmosphere of the game and the community keep me hanging around. If I saw FFXIV as strictly a source of rpg progression and nothing else, I probably would have quit long ago.

Every single craft has a 10,000 HQ achievement. It's literally impossible I think to get all of them unless you do nothing but craft and gather for 5 years.

I have about 8.5k points, so i'm close to you, but I want to smack whoever designed some of those achievements. Sometimes they are so much they don't get beaten in time; PvP has that problem; the mode gets obsolete before u can get the achievements unless you full time it.
Is that any less grindy than 2,000 mentor roulettes to get the mount?
I agree though, that the weights of certain achievements and their subsequent rewards should be relative to their difficulty and/or time investment.

It really depends on how you define "advancement" for your character. For a lot of people, farming EX primals for mounts or specific dungeons/raids for glamour gear counts as advancing their character. Some people also consider saving for and camping housing plots as advancement, or ranking your chocobo in the Gold Saucer, or collecting vistas, or leveling all the jobs. I'm currently focused on ramping up the gear for my gathering/crafting classes to make new glamour and ilvl 350 gear. I also garden for mats to make expensive pieces for my house and change up the decor every so often, as well as experimenting with new glamour looks. Some people can do these things really fast, but for me it takes a while and I'm fine with that. Having those long term goals really keeps me engaged and playing.

I'm not a raider at all, though, so we probably have a completely different outlook, which is totally fine. Personally I love many of the things this game has to offer, but I also get why hardcore raiders unsub between patches. Maybe this is the best approach for you if none of the other activities seem interesting?

There is tons to do in this game I don't know how anyone can not find something to do. If I'm not farming EX Primals or doing the weekly Sigma right now i'll be leveling alt classes, gardening, decorating my house, farming MGP for the sprout mount, gathering, crafting, or doing hunts.
