Anyone Recommend A Good 4.2 Summoner Guide?

I main heals but used to play SUM (3.0) for maps and expert and really enjoyed its depth. I just returned and find it has been revamped. At first glance it looks streamlined from 3.0 but the guides I see online look just as complex as ever.

For someone who has limited play time and wants to play SUM efficiently what openers would you recommend and why? What are your favorite rotations and why?

Or point me towards a guide that has a great basic primer on the class changes (that doesn't read like hieroglyphics). I would love to see a battle class guide as detailed as Caimie Tsukino's Crafting Guide and equally as human. She managed to unearth the intricacies of a deep deep crafting game in a very efficient way while also making it easy (and fun) to understand. I would love to see this level of attention given to a battle class guide!. If you know one post it here!

Imouto's is good but is somewhat out of date unless he's fleshed out his planned tweaks. It serves as a more intermediate level guide.

Koda's image guide is fine from a more beginner perspective: https://koda.s-ul.eu/0DZI9tKc

A more advanced guide is currently being worked on by a few of us over at The Balance, no current ETA on that but most up to date resources will always be found in the pinned smn_questions section.

Dot enemy, use aetherflow stacks, ruin for filler, r3 in trance, use big ability before trance ends, there is your guide.

You forgot "get used to grey logs forever". Seriously, OP asked for a guide to get better and this is not helping. SMN is much deeper than "dot, filler, trance".

Kodas image is based on Eirenes thoughts and Tsundere Guide, isn't it? It's great for starters and a helpful overview for everyone but to get behind the core systems Eirenes & Tsu's guides shoundt be called out until someone else revamp an up2date guide in their dimension - just my 2 cents : o

Koda's is Koda's, where it was not based on any other documents but was created from scratch with the pooled resources of several SMNs over at The Balance. Names including Koda, Laqi, Fryte, Kitiara, Tsundere Imouto and I.

Eirene's is very much outdated and has barely been touched since 4.0, but serves its niche for explaining ideas behind job flow and having helped kickstart ideas for Stormblood SMN. As SMN mentor at the job discord I prefer to always advise the most up to date information to begin with and should people wish, there's still the historical documents to read at one's leisure.

well... funny that koda him/herself linked both guides at its own than. its your free mind to advise the most up to date info - but even eirenes one is outdated its the only one which took a hand on the basics more detailed than anyone ever before; to understand those basics are a better advice in the first place than just showing of an opener and a rota people can learn and muscle memory even though they don't know why the rota is set that way.... but well each for their own I guess - you said it yourself it helped the sb kickstarter so why shouldn't beginner read it themselves as well before going into struggling for the last few % without any background-knowhow? ^^

I had put together Eirene's musings in a doc to begin with at the expansion start to grow it into a group summoner effort until he demanded it be his solo work, such that he insisted I transfer doc ownership so please keep that in mind when discussing with me how important a first job doc for an expansion is and the history behind Eirene's. He then went and fleshed things out by himself without consulting anyone further. The document is memed as "the research paper" for a reason because it was far too long for most people. Even then it carries content that isn't strictly correct. Things have also changed enough since then.

Many beginners were incredibly intimidated by the length and avoided the job at the start of Stormblood because they felt it required being really smart to play when while it had a lot of clunk was far from an inaccessible job. It is because of this that several of us worked together for a more beginner friendly medium. Which Eirene's doc most certainly is not. You may think otherwise on that, but the general consensus disagreed. Thanks to Koda's use of illustrator and group knowledge we delivered the first version of said image guide and she does what she can to keep it current. We still wanted to link to older material for historical reasons. But it must be emphasised that Eirene's is so outdated that it is archival material.
