    Blacklisted for being English

It is an extremely upsetting feeling being blacklisted for being an English speaker on a Japanese server.

This is the first time I have ever truly felt excluded from content and considering changing servers; if you wanted only Japanese speaking players, you should have formed your group with it, instead of blacklisting people for not speaking Japanese.

I was joining hunt groups yesterday and when I first join I always ask "where", I had joined this particular players group already that day, he then formed another group for a different hunt and I receive the error "you have failed to join the party" I thought nothing of it at the time, again he made another group and again "you have failed to join the party" I thought, this is odd, I've never seen this before so I looked it up, and sure enough, blacklisted and I'm told it would be because I'm an English speaker even though the party was set up allowing all languages.

Is it a common thing to blacklist players for not speaking the same language? I'm actually curious now.

Also, would it not make sense for SE to not show players that have you blacklisted in the PF?

I have been in many groups where language has been a barrier but never have I ever blacklisted a player, nor would I ever leave a party, I know how to use a translator and I'll do my absolute best to try to communicate with players. I can absolutely appreciate players forming parties with just their own native languages and I'd never take any offense to those.

Edit: nevermind, I have since found out from a few others that this player is not very nice to other players as well.

I don't know if that's truely the reason why they blacklisted you, not saying you did anything else, but I'm no mind reader so can only speculate. However being on a Japanese data centre this kind of thing can be common sometimes, although it's not and shouldn't be exclusive to JP speakers the majority would speak or have some understanding of the language even without auto-translate. It's a bit like going on to the EU data centre and expecting everyone to speak English, it's not always going to be the case and the are many groups/FCs etc that prefer certain languages (French, German, Spanish, Polish etc) and may shun others that don't.

I have an alt on Chocobo and rarely do I ever see an English speaker but regularly there at least one party in PF recruiting stating "JP only". Whether these players don't like foreigners or perhaps they only know Japanese and do not want to communicate in anything else is their own prerogative really. Auto-translate can only tell you so much, is very difficult to use that to explain mechs or to have more in-depth conversations about other game related activities. Honestly it might be tough but maybe put up some ads in the forums or other sites etc looking for groups or others that you can do stuff with.

Thanks for the response Kurando, and I agree with you, if it was something I had done wrong such as if I was well under-geared, was rude or deliberately trolling, then I'd deserve to be blacklisted however none of that happened, it was only a hunt group so really, there is very little you can do wrong in those groups as <t> <pos> would auto translate anyway, so it is more than likely because I spoke in English to ask where the hunt was located, I've never interacted with the player previously except for seeing them during hunts and I've always shouted correct locations using the <t> <pos> tools.

I think I'm just mostly annoyed at the fact the party was set up for all languages and then I was blacklisted for not speaking Japanese, and then even after the blacklisting, all parties that he continues to make are for all languages, if the party was set up for J only I'd not be feeling so offended as I'd be more than understanding but to blacklist, is extreme.

Just such a shame really, but I guess after my initial hurt has since subsided i have to remember that just like real life not all players I will meet online will be nice, just hope I haven't made a lot of players blacklist for the same reason.
