I suppose you're right about that. Again, my apologies. For that same reason I decided to stop commenting or answering to not draw more negative attention to the topic. My request for devs is serious, and I have no intention to brag, but you have to admit under this circumstances there is absolutely nothing I could say that won't qualify as bragging for some people here.
This thread has given me something to strive for. I am serious as I was trying to figure out what to do with my FFXIV career and Savage/Extremes are not it. Buying a large house is one and filling it with nice toys.
How about implementing a special "clear demimateria" type item that one can buy/sell from a special npc, for some obscene amount of gil (let's say anywhere from 1 million to 100 million). The item would be market prohibited and untradeable, so the item could not be transfered to other players, unless convereted back into normal gil. Perhaps make it so the user can only sell said item back, for the original value, if they sell it on the server they originally purchased it on. The item could stack to 999, like any normal item. It would give players an additional option to "store" gil, and it would take advantage of the current sytem. As far as I could tell, it wouldn't affect memory size of the entire player base either. They would have to add a new item, and perhaps the new exchange npc.

Considering how many people actually reach that limit is so extremely few it's not worth doing so even if it's possible.
I almost had the same problem, well I'm not as wealthy as you but i always keep my gil on the retainers so I don't get those "spend for useless stuff period" crisis, and the first retainer was full then I had to place on the second retainer.
Let’s do the liberal thing and take her wealth and give it to us people who don’t have it.
The reason you've had the kinds of responses you have, is because this proposed change benefits... pretty much just you.
It'd be like me asking the devs to rename Thancred after me, and I don't need to give anyone a reason why I want that, I'm paying my subscription and I only get validation out of videogames when there's an NPC named after me.
In addition, it's virtually a non-problem that there are ways around, and ways intended by SE to be used, but you're just outright refusing them because "reasons".
So It's like I could just make my own character and name it after myself, because that's an option available to everyone, but no, I want it to be an NPC.
Perhaps if you were willing to personally reimburse them for the effort in making this change, (I don't know, maybe $100,000 would cover it) then they might consider it.
That should let you know how absurd a suggestion this really is, and explains why most people think you're just bragging, because the suggestion itself has no merit and the result is merely attention and announcing that you have literally all the gil in Eorzea.
If you're not bragging, you may as well close this topic.

Absurd or not, it is up to the players to request changes they would like. No matter even if it benefits one person or the masses, this is the place we are told to come request enhancements. Anyone who takes offense or interprets it as bragging is just way too damn sensitive. The OP has already clearly stated this is their motivation to play and as a paying subscriber if they cannot further that motivation then they lose the will to subscribe. Sure the OP could go buy items that can be placeholders for the cap but it takes away the primary motivation still.
Imagine if gear increases didn't actually increase the damage you do. Instead it worked the opposite way. If you didn't gear up you would do less damage. For example, I hit level 50 wearing 45 gear and I do 500 damage to a level 50 creature. When I attack a level 45 creature I do 1000. The level 50 creatures don't have any more health than the level 45 and for me to increase my dps I have to gear up. Great so I get level 50 gear and now I am back to 1000. Great I am back on par to what I was doing before. New patch comes out with a new iLvl and I am back to doing 500 damage until I can get the new ilvl gear to get back up to 1000. My DPS potential is capped at 1000. I can't do anymore but I can do less without proper gear. If this continued even to SB from ARR, the raiders and players would be furious. We like big numbers. They are satisfying and for the OP the number they care about is how much is in their bank.
So while you may deem it unreasonable or absurd this again is their primary motivation and it is no less bragging than the person who shows off the recent pony or World First. It is an accomplishment just like getting a world first clear. The amount of time the OP invested to get to the gil cap in the first place.
