Help me choose a 2nd tank please

    Hi guys,

So i have a pally at 70 i am debating what else to get to 70 tank wise so i can have them share the gear, my worry about warrior is that i will have to use the DPS Stance to be effective. The reason i love pally is that i have heals and i am very defensive i know the other two tanks are very offensive but which one has atleast alittle bit better survivability.

all tanks have more or less the same amount of survivability. But if you just wanna sit in tank stance all day then I guess dark knight, at least with that you're not missing out on 40% of your dps. I dunno why you'd wanna stay in tank stance regardless though.

What do you want to do with your tank? Eventual Savage? Extreme trials? Expert Roulette and Normal mode raids? If you never plan to do much more than Expert Roulette and Normal mode raids then level whatever you want. If you want to eventually push into Savage raids then learning how to effectively swap out of tank stance will only make you a better tank.

DRK can literally pop on a 20% hp shield every 15 seconds so that's kinda nice, WAR can use IR on Inner Beast spam to basically be invincible but you'll lose a lot of dps. Honestly if you're really intent on staying in tank stance, stay in tank stance. It doesn't matter what you choose, all tanks lose around 35% of their dps in tank stance. Contrary to belief, turtling on WAR is just as bad as turtling on PLD. WAR has better self survival but takes more damage overall. DRK has little self survival but a powerful shield that makes you almost immune in casual content for 7 seconds every 15 seconds

But this is true for every tank.

All 3 tanks are offensive tanks. If you're sitting in Shield Oath and using Clemency often, you're doing it wrong. There isn't any huge mitigation gap between them either.

Also if you’re still worried about losing a defensive stance, warrior doesn’t actually passively mitigate damage while in their tank stance. Meaning you won’t take “more” damage when in their damage stance.

But again, I do stress, all tanks should use their offensive stance as much as possible.

When I'm tanking I always pick warrior. I love that feeling of getting a FIRM and loving grip on my massive TWO HANDED WEAPON. I'll open up in defiance by UNCHAINING my huge tool, and warming up my target and getting things loose before I EXPLODE with an INNER RELEASE and head for massive multi-crit ECSTASY! Uhhhhh, five times in a row, was it good for you? Wait, I timed my burst wrong and It was only four times? Well, shut up! Four times is perfectly fine for a piece of trash like you! You loved it, it was better than you deserved! Why don't you take a hike, and you BETTER not tell anyone I underperformed! I'M ALL TANK! I'M ALL TAAAANK! Grrrrr, get out of here before I beat the ^&%! out of you!

Level up a WAR to learn how to swap out of your tank stance during fights.

It's also the best dungeon tank currently.

Then you want to go with WAR. If you like PLD because of the defensive choices then you will need to go with WAR. Simply because of its high HP and has better mitigation than DRK.

DRK has TBN but you dont get that until you are level 70 and all through the leveling dungeons and content you will feel like a squishy tank. WAR also has alot of self healing abilities.

I would advise you to try both just to see which one you prefer.
