In the video you clearly saw Ifrit, Titan and Shiva. That's all I know.
I can see ifrit and I can see titan, where's Shiva in there?

Also I agree that FF14 has great base for a story, I remember the first FF11 main quests and they where as boring as the FF14 ones until rank 36 mission, this where it starts to geat really good.
    Cant wait for more!

This gives a good Idea of what's going on. Fully accesable from the SE website. Other than that I guess we dont' really know what's going on, as the story is not yet written. Final Fantasy Stories never really start until there is a threat to the world. We are just living as Civilians of Eorza, trying to protect what we have left from the war....

I haven't seen any concrete evidence for this, but I sure as hell want it to be true.

And then I want Bahamut to eventually decrystalize.

And then I want to fight it!

If that was Bahamut, it would make sense; he wouldn't fit into the 6 primals of the elements, so he'll be different. Perhaps one day, Mor Dhona will have an earthquake, and he'll decrystalise to unleash more terror on the Garlean Empire...or Eorzea. /panic

Thanks for the links, I had forgot about this. I haven't looked at this website since I bought the game. When I read this I barley knew what it meant. Now it makes a lot more sense.

    Brief summary:

Eorzea was gearing up for war between the city states, then the garleans showed up and plowed down a city, then all the other eorzeans city states decided to band together to fight the garleans and then they....never showed up.. (Maybe they ran into "HOLY CRAP THAT IS A LOT OF DRAGONS"). Because the city states had gathered so many soldiers and it was apparent that they were no longer going to be going to war they started up the adventurer's guilds to keep the economy from tanking.

nifty job of explaining why we have so many adventurers.

Yep, and it already beats out XI's explanation of us just..showing up lol. The storyline is great, people that say it's bad likely button mashed through the text parts nor read journal entries -- It's vanilla, you usually wait till the expansions to really get into the meat of the overall storyline, XI is a perfect example unless they sidestep from the story progression as well:

Vanilla = Basically introducing you to the game and certain characters
Zilart = Explains pretty much everything about the past and trying to open the gates of paradise
Chains of Promathia = Fills in plot holes as well as even more truths about the Zilartian era
Treasures of Aht Urghan = Story of an entirely different continent all together (near/far east), as well as goes deeper into Bastok's involvement with a certain situation.
Wings of the Goddess = All about the Crystal War and Dynamis. It also throws in a very detailed story about Atomos and how the vanadiel we know may not even be the actual Vanadiel.
A Crystalline Prophacy = Closing a 6 year plot hole (Sister from the opening of the game.)
    A Moogle Kupo d`etat = A fun little story about a moogle mob boss..basically.
A Shanttoto Ascension = All about Shanttoto.
Abyssea = A time/space tear allows us to enter yet another visage of Vanadiel that existed without the Zilarts and Al`Taieu is still in the normal plain whereas our Timeline it's in another dimension. It also explains how the mother crystals are all shattered and you even see as such in Empyreal Paradox (Abyssea) where the Twilight God, Promathia, has mutated into the Dragon God, Shinryu.

So as you can see..Vanilla storylines no matter how you slice it won't ever be as good as the future storylines -- This is true in pretty much all MMOs because the expansion storyline tend to have to detail new features/event systems as well, e.g Campaign is merely the key battles of the Crystal War with the invading beastmen.

My thoughts on Bahamut - Seeing as how the Garlean Empire would be pretty sore about getting the snuff kicked out of them by the Beast Tribes etc. I figured, why would they leave Bahamut as a landmark... They are probably working right now on some Advanced Machine to either raise Bahamut from his Crystal Prison or... Use an Advanced Machine to convert him to his Magical Form (Magicite) to use as a powerful weapon against the beast tribes. With such a solid base, the story could move in any direction, I'm excited to find out more.

My take on the trailer and on the story is this:

First they show a couple of adventurers gathering guildleves (the main system of the game).
The main character (just like every one of us) is shown to have the Echo, hearing voices and experiencing a past event.
In this past event, a battle is show (i think it really has no relevance other than to show the game will feature common FF monsters - like Molboros - and to show battle regiments - with that fire arrow thing)

Then the background story begins. The character is then taken to the midst of a battle. Since those winged-cannon-thin-tall-freakish machines are being used by the garleans, I think that battle was an attempt of the Empire to destroy another city-state, just like Ala Mhigo. Maybe Ishgard. For me, it seemed as the dragons were protecting the land, and the empire then began killing all the dragons (and then began the meteor-shower scene, which were actually the dragons being shot down Q.Q).
However, they forgot about the king of all dragons (or mommy dragon XD) Bahamut, which appeared and destroyed the empire's dreadnaught. With Bahamut's sacrifice, the Echo was created and so were the primals. This happened 15 years ago. The official website also mentions the primals were first summoned around 10 years ago.

The adventurer's guilds were formed since the empire never got to Ishgard (or whatever city they were attacking). And everyone is preparing for the garlean invasion (maybe they are creating another dreadnaught D: 15 years seem like a decent time to create a thing with that size)

I'm really loving the story of FFXIV It has huge potencial. However, none of this is in the game as it should :s

not readding the hole thread as I'm sure it filled with trolling. (derailing a thread with how bad the game is, is trolling. Not even the fact you hate the game)

The cs starts with a hyr/ hume, a seeper of sun miqo'te, woodland elzian (sorry spelling is bad) they are in an adventurers guild picking out levequets (which are not quests but mercenary jobs/ adventures) the hume guy notices one on the side. Like it is calling to him. He look at it and some how "the echo" brings his mind to a hume in the past.

He is now an archer with a group of adventurers. Mostly a group of adventuers getting coin to kill off bounties. (which inspired the adventures guild and levequests) as they fight the marbolo they get interupted by a dragon and war birds. the hume gets into the war bird and and you see this war with a gaint air battle ship (commonly called ragnorok in ff games) fighting a serpentine dragon (commonly called bahamut in ff games) as a last plea the ppl crash the ship to kill the dragon coiled around it.
