    Frequent Error 90002 Disconnections

Since about January i've been getting somewhat frequent Error 90002-related disconnections. I did not have any problems at all prior to the new year. The error occurs seemingly randomly, regardless of what game content i'm doing (from questing, to instances and standing afk in housing areas). My internet connection appears fine, as I do not lose internet or get disconnected from other things such as discord or voice comm programs. I do not experience any lag beforehand - it's just a sudden disconnection.

I play on the Omega server and my ISP is Virgin Media (UK). I would really like this resolved as it's quite stressful trying to play and progress content not knowing when I might get booted to the log-in screen at any given moment!

I'm not the most technically savvy person around but I did do a trace route to what I believe is the IP for the Chaos datacenter.

    Thanks for a quick reply!

Things that I have tried so far have been:

    - Changing the ether net cable I use
    - Plugging the ethernet straight into the modem where the Internet comes in, rather than an inbetween router
    - Restarting the modem
    - Port forwarding to the ranges provided by you guys on this forum

Thank you for the update aquitius.

You trace route would suggest that you are having some issues with your ISP (as evident by the 'request timed out' message from nodes associated with Virgin Media). You may not notice it with other programs as they do not require as demanding or persistent connection to function properly (An MMO will require a constant back and forth with the server that is not quite necessary for some communication programs).

In case your trace route is some sort of weird outlier, I will list a few more suggestions.

    If you play on PC:
Make sure to have an exception on your anti-virus/firewall for Final Fantasy XIV.
Try not to have any other programs running while playing the game.
You can try a clean boot. Simply open the task manager and select the 'Start up' Tab. Disable everything here and restart the PC.

    If on PS4:
Please make sure that "Cookies" and "JavaScript" are ENABLED on the PSN Browser. This can be done by going to the web browser on the PS4, press the options button, then go to settings. The options for Cookies and Javascript will most likely be checked, uncheck them and then recheck them.

We hope we can be of assistance in helping you enjoy the exciting world of Final Fantasy XIV!

Unfortunately i've been getting the time out quite consistently with the trace route, and the additional suggestions you've listed haven't made any difference to the issue.

Thank you for the help and speedy replies, even though it's likely out of your hands - i'll be sure to raise this with my ISP as soon as possible.

    Thank you for the update.

Hopefully your ISP will be able to clear things up.

This thread will be moved to the 'Separate Support Required’ subforum as contact with an Internet Service Provider is necessary to resolve the issue.

Thank you for visiting the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.
