Aren't there players that abuse shout chat, kick people from dungeons for no reason, kick people just for playing SAM, early pull hunts, early pull bosses, and also do everything you said above in PvE as well? Why then is chat not disabled in PvE?

I can't speak for others, but I and most of the PvPers I know on Aether data center knew how to behave themselves. Sure, there were some bad apples, but no one so extreme. And for anyone who did act nasty, we just stomped them out in a match.

Yes and I agree these people need to be stomped out, I don't see why punishing everyone who steps into the feast is fair. SE is so light-handed with everything and yet when they do decide to crack down on something, we all get punished along with the people who can't play with dignity or handle their emotions.

In the matter of Rival Wings, I don't think bots are causing queue to be never ending in RW. They are annoying but they are in Frontlines as well and people still play that. People grew tired of healer camping the generator awful quick and would rather just run a quick Shatter for wolf marks.

Damn straight. I did tons of PvP from shortly after I hit lv50 in 2.55 until the very end of HW, with 3.4~3.56 seeing me spend more time in PvP (queues) than in any other form of content. Combined. I did it because I enjoyed PvP - well, not so much Shatter as a game mode you understand, but still - and because both myself and my partner wanted the mounts/titles/glamour items.

I thoroughly despise everything about what PvP is now. I'm going into Rival Wings currently to work on getting the silly gorilla mount, but I won't touch Feast. Won't even consider Frontlines. Wouldn't queue for Seize or even be tempted by 72-man Secure (<3) at this point if they managed to bring them back. I'm beyond caring.

There's ultimately little difference between people that used to throw matches and/or refuse to cooperate for "lose faster 'cause muh Tomestones" and the current botters though, save that the latter are more plentiful. I'm a bit torn on removal of EXP, too. On the one hand I was furious when they announced it and, despite being omni-70 on two characters, have not earned a single point of experience on any job from PvP. On the other hand, the reason "my" PvP is dead is ultimately because of this push to appeal to a broader audience (overly simplified gameplay, yielding EXP), so if that were to now be removed it would maybe feel even worse. Like it was taken out back and shot in the stomach, left to die slowly and painful, for absolutely no reason at all.

Which is still the case, given how hit or miss queue times are. Haven't waited 3+ hours like I did during ARR and HW yet though!

Tempers flared in The Feast, yes. But Frontlines, in my extensive experience, was far more lax.

Ranked modes tend to go that way though. And the removal of chat in Feast is still stupid.

Because with dungeons you're likely going to get a different group every single time you head in and won't have to deal with jerks repeatedly. Kick abuse doesn't have anything to do with chat and the specific reason for it is usually based on assumption.

Whether or not I thought it was justified is completely beside the point. I actually think potd is the worst when it comes to rude and hateful people if you care to know. But, SE was the one who decided to act on pvp based on their intimate knowledge of what was reported. There would have had to of been a legitimate problem of a decent scale for that call to have been made which was all that I tried to point out. The reaction to that change could also be a factor in SE's inaction with botting, but that's only conjecture.

    1. If their "intimate knowledge of what was reported" is so valid, then why has half a year of reports and complaints about botting and exploiting gone unanswered. Surely that many people couldn't just be making this up, right?
    2. Before you fully commit yourself to the idea that their "intimate knowledge" is such a good source to act on, read this: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...n-in-The-Feast
In particular, read maybe the first few pages, then jump to page 40. Look at the time difference. Look at the first rep response there. Then read the rest. Take note of just how many things players said that proved to be more true, or show better/deeper understanding of the issue. Read that, then ask yourself if what they supposedly know is so much more weighted than what players actually experienced.

I think only an outcry on the level of that of the housing issue might get them to consider a change in their policies regarding bots.

Unfortunately, the vast majority of players probably aren't even aware of them and thus don't care.

It would take an organized effort on the part of several concerned players to get the matter noticed enough for them to care at all, but considering how poorly they handle even the gil farming bots (Moving the loot they were farming in Amdapor Keep for gil from the first chest to the last chest has not discouraged them at all, and if anything, may have just provoked them into making more bots to compensate for the slower gil farming), I'm thinking they wouldn't know how to deal with the more complex ones even if they tried.

The thing with PVP chat is that you'd get hotheads telling you to go die in a fire or kill yourself or whatnot, but even if you blacklist them, you'll still be in a party with them come the next match. At least with party finder, if you blacklist someone, their name and PF is faded out so you know you want nothing to do with it. PVP matches never gave you that luxury -- although this new team-based option might help.

They technically did give you that luxury up until season 5, where it was removed. Light Party queue was premade vs premade and with a premade, you can pick your comrades as you liked.

Technically, because team queues were slow as all heck and cynic ole me is going to predict this new team based option is going to share that same fate.

Long queue times because of bots? Yeah great logic!

People leaving the pvp after realizing its full of bots.
And that makes queue times longer.
