Why do you lock up your houses?

My first house was literally due to it being the default. I never thought about it. My ward was dead so no one ever asked.

My second house was a medium, and one day someone said liked my yard and asked was I going to let people see the rest when I finished. I was like ‘people do that?” Then I opened it up.

The mansion I just got in the last patch I had locked because it wasn’t decorated. I only have the top two floors done right now, but I ran around yesterday greeting all of the new residents I saw and giving out housewarming gifts, so I unlocked it so they could come see it.

Also, the message you get when you try to do it doesn’t help.

Personal house locked due to rogue fc with apartments next to it using my house to rp, erp, be generally annoying and lack of any action by GMs other than telling me to lock it up.

For the simple fact i dont want you or anyone else to go inside. I hate RP and i would flip out to see people doing this crap in my house, regardless of what type of RP. This is just one example, but not the only one. Frankly i would like to lock out entire plot if i could so only people i personally approved can enter.

If one day SE move their a**es and bring housing UI to 21st century then i would immediately set 100 people w/o house on the list so they can use (almost) all bonuses in the house (e.g. crafting bonuses), in mean time i dont see any point to watch some strangers running around.

I get you not liking people RP'ing in your house, I'd hate it too.

But hate RP? Why? It's literally just glamourized creative writing. Contrary to popular belief, most of our RP doesn't revolve around erotica.

I usually only lock mine for if I'm redecorating, or if I go through periods of time where I log in and there are random people in my house just like hanging out or...doing other things. I actually walked in once on two people ERPing in /say and I was like "uhm...." and locked the house for a while after that lol.

But I also like privacy, so that's another reason. When I was in my old FC, I always kept my FC room locked if I ever wanted somewhere to craft or just idle in peace without a bunch of bustling or whatnot around me.

Man, I'm in the "unofficial" rp server and I NEVER had strangers ERP in my house. I feel like I'm missing out. I'd come in and post something to ruin their sexy fun times. Just have my character run there and start violently sobbing and rolling on top of them, maybe spamming a dumb dance.

Reasons to hate RP? (from someone who had his house invaded by RP)

The conversations in /s instead of /t filling up chat logs
Emote spam, so so so much emote spam, after the 50th ranger pose... (personally I blist /s talkers and emote spammers immediately)

and in dungeons you have the ppl who want to stop and read everything or ...the must frustrating... walk. And those who refuse to do /echo and everything has dialog, either in /p /s or /sh. Its so unnecessary, esp since we cannot blist you in a dungeon.

Hm... Most RP'ers I know turn off the emote chatlog, so they can emote without having something posted on chat. I get the /say thing though, but again, you're in Sargatanas. IF you're an RP'er in Balmung you kinda get used to seeing it and most encourage it, as it gives the game a more "open world" feel.

I do see non-RPers and RPers read in dungones, but it's generally done in new content. My boyfriend and I always finish the dungeon and then go back to read on stuff we missed.

Now, walking in dungeons you DF'd sounds very selfish. I've never encountered someone doing that, and I'm so sorry you have. If you ever go to a dungeon in-character you do it with a group of RP'ers and not via dutyfinder, it's common sense.

So far, I have not locked mine. To me, it's pretty low budget to get weird in a virtual house/game but whatever. It gives the SE ppl watching a show. As long as mine doesn't get the oddballs, it will remain unlocked.
