This plot of land is not yet ready for purchase

Sooo... I've been trying to buy this plot of land since last night... It has the brown gavel and shows a price.. but when your try to buy it (private nor FC) it gives me the error
"This plot of land is not yet ready for purchase" It's been this way since last night (EST)
What gives? is there a timer or something on this LAST plot available in Gridania?

It's a plot that was preciously owned by someone. At patch 4.2 they added a random timer on plots that been relinquished / relocated from - basicly a anti re-sell house measure.

...if there is, however, a small plot available anywhere on your server, you can buy that and immidiatly relocate to the plot in lavender beds - the random timer has no effect on relocation. You may end up spending some more gil, but you could get that plot right now and for sure (well, unless someone else has the same idea)

    is that true?

so I could for example pay some guy to relinquish there large plot. and then move in to that plot straight away because I have a small and can relocate immediately?

if that's the case then what the hell is the point of the random timer???

That is also probably against TOS but sure you could do that.

*giggles* Where have you been these last few weeks? People have been complaining about how relocation by-passes the random timer and how people are still selling plots to relocaters (as well as houses with an FC attached, the easiest way to sell a house). The point of the random timer seems to be keeping people from getting into the housing market by not letting them purchase their first home from a flipper. And so people will have to camp placards forever, only to have to switch to a different placard somewhere else when someone relocates to their camped plot. It's lots of fun trying to go to different cities to figure out where someone moved from so you can camp the new RNG timer from the relocated plot.

In all seriousness, I really wish there was some distinction between a house that is available for purchase and a house with a timer. And it's a really awful experience to camp a plot for 5+ hours only to have someone relocate to it.

Thanks for the replies! I'll have to look around then. I'm at work though and can only remote into my computer using my phone so it's super laggy... But if the housing market for other cities is anything like in Gridania.. I'm prob sol... :'(

When I was looking around last night, there were still lots of smalls in Goblet in most of the new wards. You should probably be able to find one there. I'd try plots 9, 10, 21-24, and 26-28.

edit: If they've been relinquished then the plot price should not have had time to go down that much, so I'd start with the cheapest houses. It will save you a little gil that way as well.

The bypassing will stop soon as all plots are occupied with no plot to relocate too people bypassing will have no way to bypass the timer.

Well, the idea behind it is that if you relocate, even if its to a "better" location, the amount of open houses stays the same, since you leave an open plot behind when you relocate.
I'm not sure why the random timer doesnt effect relocation, seems a little bit weird, granted.

But the point of the random timer is to make house flipping more difficult - you cant sell houses anymore. And if someone relocates, the amount of open houses stays the same.
Gaming the system like I suggested also only works now, while there are houses without a random timer on them.
