How about something like Reverse/Reflect?
Reverse could be a very short beneficial status effect that stores a percentage/some damage received and then restores it back gradually/immediately after the effect ends (so it's not just essentially Protect/straight up damage reduction spell).
Reflect could reflect back a percentage/some damage received; traditionally, it would only work for magic attack but they can make it for physical attack as well just like they did with Protect.
Come to think of it, if they were added as spammable spells they could be useful (though this would depend on how much damage is actually reflected/reversed; otherwise, they'll probably be very situational like the others).
I like the idea of counter attacks + vun down, maybe make it something like when the barrier is hit by physical attacks (heck maybe even make it work on physical and magical) damage equivalent to 100 potency is diverted back at the target. So you'd be delivering a 100 potency attack when you get hit and reducing the damage you take by the amount the counter attack deals. Might be a bit over complicated but it would make it something unique and especially useful when combined with deployment tactics. That was the idea sch would contrast smn. Where radiant shield is counter attacks + vun up on the enemy, deployment tactics would be counter attacks + vun down on the target.
It’s counter attacks in final fantasy record keeper so it’s strange that it’s not in the actual game it came from.
