On Excalibur I counted at least 85 houses in the goblet, helped a friend get right on the edge of the brimming heart. Glad you got your chosen ward.
I think it was successful going by any other criteria than everyone gets a house. Yeah they're things they can still improve, But I ran around my ward welcoming all the new residents and there were a lot of happy, first time home owners.
Balmung... raiding? You not confused with Greg now?
Thank you SE!
We had a wonderful housing experience this patch!
Everyone who wanted a personal house in our small FC got a personal house or relocated to their dream spot.
Many of them are first time homebuyers and were super happy when they got a place of their own.
Our FC members helped each other by giving gils and furniture to these happy new owners.
Someone in the FC is planning to get married in game in 2 weeks. This small house is a God sent gift!
I think the random timer and 1FC/1 personal house per service account rule really worked out like magic.
Although it doesn’t completely solve the problem, at least it is a good start.
It stopped a big portion of the flippers.
In our maxed out LS of 128 people, most feedbacks are positive.
Thanks again for finally listening to our cry.
While I think there should be more wards in other servers, Balmung definitely should not get more wards. It's going to cause more people to go there.
The more congested the server is, the lesser chance it gets. Servers should be balanced out considering cross-world LS/FC alliance is coming.
That way more people will consider moving to other servers and help it grow whether it's RP community or friendly and healthy gaming community. One server should not determine everything to be there and not others. You have friends who refuse to move with you? Then they must not be your friends who aren't respecting your wishes.
They reopened the congestion gate for Balmung. It's literally asking people to congest this server and create other servers to decline. Did you see 10 servers go preferred when they reopened it? Do you know how ridiculous that is?

Something to also consider with the dynamic wards idea is think about how it will function in a game that has 4 housing districts. What will happened if/when the developers add a 5th one? What if they introduce Ishgard housing in 5.0, and everyone that was flocking to Shirogane and spawning new wards picked up and left en masse for the latest and greatest new housing district? This is basing off of what happened when Shirogane released—a lot of people left the old housing districts for the newest thing. And you saw complaints everywhere with 4.2 about how all of Shirogane housing was sold out, and people were mad they didn’t get a plot in Shirogane because that’s the only place they want to live, etc.. I don’t doubt that it would be similar if Ishgard housing were added, especially since there is a big demand for that.
Dynamic wards could probably work if there was only a single housing district, but with 4 of them, people are going to cram into the current, most popular one, and if any are added in the future, they will just move there, and rinse and repeat.
The servers just can’t handle dynamic wards, I don’t think. They couldn’t even handle Early Access.

Come on over to Goblin if you want a special plot! Half the wards are empty in each district lol
We are all made of star stuff
It feels like 3.3 was easier because 4.1 was too little housing in combination with too much advertising. Seriously. Luke 20 - 25% of the stormblood advertising and that much of the pre-4.1 live letter was about shiro.

In all honesty, on Sargatanas I felt like it was an entirely different situation and atmosphere than usual. Of course there was the typical problem of all the choicest plots going as fast as ever, with some not being available at all due to transfers, but at the end of the day a house is a house. It at least opens you up to being able to transfer to a more preferred plot later on, and I was actually able to snag one in what I consider to be a pretty good spot for me after a full day of work once housing came open to individual players again, which would have been unheard of before these changes. It shows me just how huge of an impact flippers were having on the housing market and how many players were being locked out.

I don't feel as though it was 'successful'. They've simply made it more difficult for honest players to get a hold of a house, especially on a busier server.
Right now there are twenty people standing around the placard of an empty housing plot on Balmung. Mindlessly clicking it over and over in the hope that they will be lucky enough to succeed at securing the house for themselves when it unlocks. I wouldn't be surprised if they were doing it through an automated system whilst AFK.
