My SO got a really good tier 1 plot with a view of waterfalls & v. close by the ferry skipper simply by walking up to a placard. I was so sure it would be on timer, but apparently most of the houses are not on timer after the housing demolitions.

No, everything went to the timer same as always. The 45 day auto-demo plots opened up at some point thurday morning(possibly right around 8am based on forum postings). By friday at noon all those timers would have expired. Now some people certainly used the occasion to transfer to new locations, so THOSE plots would have timers starting later(but since transfers dont need to wait out the initial timer, most of those would have been done within the first half of the day on thursday one would think). Still, by friday night/saturday morning i would have expected most open plots to actually be open.

The timer is random, and I'm painfully aware of how the system works. It's anywhere from 30 mins to 24+ hours if you camp a placard. I'm saying this specific plot that he snagged was surprisingly no longer on a timer despite not having devalued at all. And most of the houses on Famfrit are not on the RNG timer like I said, especially because it's Sunday now.

Why so many plots available? People are bailing out on Crystal data center?

It's because Crystal DC has a lot of small servers.
But a lot of people used the free transfer period to go back to Aether and Primal too.

The people who wanted to bail on Crystal did so during the free transfer period, which is long since over, and their houses already purchased by other players. There weren't more than a handful of houses still available a week after the free transfer period ended and that had people alarmed.

It's auto-demo finally being activate again for 45 days that has freed up the current available houses. The number available right now is still far less than it was last October before auto-demo was suspended and we're already watching it decrease again.

Our populations on Crystal are growing, not decreasing.

Any particular reason you're going out of your way trying to imply that Crystal is failing as a data center just because of housing numbers? Because I assure you we're doing just fine.
