Cross Server PF is a thing. You're the one who wants housing in a place that is flooded with people with similar goals, vs going to other places where its available. You got the last bit right. Do your own thing - because you've left all your mates behind and joined a server with no active FCs. If I were to transfer it would be to a medium population server where I'd be forced to convert all my gil to crafting materials/materia and then back again afterwards. That was about two weeks of faff last time around and I have almost three times the gil now. Not worth the effort.
 At least you're doing you.
If you say so.
Please, no uses cross server party finder to play with their ex-FCs in any serious capacity besides plugging in a last slot. Also, these worlds are meant to be populated, otherwise they feel dead. Lack of housing on populated servers is a dev oversight at best and apathy at worst. Why wouldn't they want to accommodate these majority communities? Coming from Cactuar and other smaller/medium servers, there really is no comparison to the diverse and active communities on the large servers. If you want to play a solo game with some MMO aspects, by all means go small/medium worlds. If you want a long term experience with plenty of social interaction, populated servers are where it's at.

The system with Congested/Standard/Preferred servers did work quite well - there are no longer any servers that can be considered small. Even the smallest of the servers have a sizeable enough population that if you want social interaction you can easily get it.

And who is contesting the notion and concept of population(and its ramifications)? High population is fine so long as it can be properly accommodated and catered to; however certain servers have more population than they should going by the server issues a few of them constantly cause. Now aside from reading how you fawn at the idea of overpopulation. It doesn't change that:Please, no uses cross server party finder to play with their ex-FCs in any serious capacity besides plugging in a last slot. * Overpopulated Servers have a housing issue which they caused; which SE won't invest the ideal amount of time and attention to properly address it.
* SE won't add more wards just to large servers, because of how they explain their reasoning: their spaghetti code only allows adding the same across all worlds, thus there is no point for a server like Coeurl to have 24k houses with 70%+ vacant vs 24k houses on Balmung and still asking for more.
* If you want a house, there are servers that have them in excess. If Socializing > Personal house, then stay where you are.
