There are two massive problems revealed by the current system...

A. User interface and graphic wise, plots that are on the cooldown timer look identical to plots that are actually available to be purchased now. I had a blast running around last night trying to find a plot that was actually purchasable and never did. This is likely what is causing players to camp these things so hardcore. This is a disaster implementation from the UI side.

B. Houses left over from relocation should probably have some expedited cooldown timer, if none at all. I get the need for the cooldown for relinquished plots because you don't want people selling these things off for cash. But someone relocating isn't likely selling the house/trying to flip it for gil. As it is now, players who relocate are (unintentionally, no fault of their own) causing havoc for people just trying to get a house because some houses look like you can buy them but you can't and they get stuck on a cooldown. This will continue to be a problem, because if and when SE adds more housing, this issue will resurface at probably a larger scale (especially if say, a new district entirely is released and you see a huge migration).

In short, the current system really sticks it hard to people who don't have a house.

Got a house on Hyperion today in the Lavender Beds! Lots of plots open when I logged in this morning.

On Sarg I was able to get one in the LB, alot of smalls are still there from last I checked. I was shocked as I was sure I wasn't able to get one, I had some gil saved up but gave up and bought a 350 chest piece this morning, then finding more plots opened I did maps to get some gold and finally landed a house. I'm no longer homeless.. seems like you really can get one.. if you don't mind small houses in random locations in LB,mist and Goblet. Shiro is full as an unopened pepsi can.

I guess a part of me just finds it all funny seeing people on Balmung camping in front of a plot. A house is cool and all but most of my friends I know tell me they rarely use the ones they have and keep it more for decoration. Hell, sold the small I had to a friend a year or so ago and haven't looked back. I don't understand the need to need a house to where (yes) I seen and heard people get emotionally distraught cause they couldn't get one.

Balmung still has plots open but their all being camped by at least 4-5 people each from what I noticed.

I came to the forum because the two houses next to me in the LB on mateus are still available. I figured there were problems and housing was pushed.

Sooo now the problem is not availability but finding a place with a great view or a bigger size? My medium has a terrible view all around but tbh even when I was in a good area, I didn't really look around to enjoy it.

I'd say they did a good job addressing the issue of housing availability. Realistically, pleasing 100% of the community is impossible so don't use it as a measure of success.

I'm glad FC's got their places though.

Like others have said, buy a small wherever you can get and look out for better spots to relocate down the line.

Probably going to catch some 'then go to another server' heat for this, but I don't really care. Shouldn't have to leave my friends and FC behind just for a house.

Because of that restriction on personal housing, I could do nothing but watch as ALL of the large and medium homes vanished within minutes of the new wards being added 3 weeks ago. That left nothing but small plots here and there, maybe about 10-15 on average per ward, including subdivisions. This morning when I tried to log in I got cucked by those famous 2002 lobby errors SE is famous for in times like these, and by the time I did get in there was NOTHING left ANYWHERE. Just feel very cheated.

tl;dr- Not enough wards, the personal housing restriction was bull, good job 'satisfying everyone', etc etc.

Just over 12 hours after maintenance and one of my FC members has just picked up a choice plot in the Goblet, meaning that 5 of us now have personal houses in the Goblet (all in the same ward!), one of us has a medium in the Lavender Beds and I have a medium in the Mist. This is on top of the FC house we already own. There are still smalls dotted around in some areas except for Shirogane, which filled nigh immediately after maint. This is on Ragnarok.

In terms of availability, I think we're just about there in terms of supply and demand on any medium to high pop server, Balmung excluded. It's pretty damn clear that the issue wasn't FC housing, as there was barely any uptake on FCs in smalls, even with the benefits of gardening, airships and submarines. Any FC complaining about lack of facilities at this stage needs slapping.

The only way I feel they could improve on this short of instancing everything (which is still the ideal scenario!) is somehow changing the system so that people can upgrade their plots, or add "premium" wards which contain purely large and medium plots to satisfy that part of the demand.

I really think it would be a good idea, if they add more wards in the future or for any new districts, to increase the number of larges and mediums in them. People just don’t want small houses, even though I loved my small I used to have in the Beds. Ironically enough, this seems to be an NA/EU thing; on JP servers, there are larges still available and devaluing, because it’s my understanding JP players actually don’t like the large houses, but prefer mediums and smalls. I wonder if this is why there’s only 6 larges per ward.
