The excessive competition for a plot on Balmung is simply a consequence of playing on one of the biggest servers. If owning a house is a major goal for a player there and they don't already own one then they'd be better off moving elsewhere.

Whats I always found funny is... Balmung had more house flippers on reddit...

Hmmm 3 mill for a personal one. I have a mansion solo FC I could just buy it for kicks maybe on my alternate -.-. guess I can buy it FC mode then for more airships and subs. Having to play it an d get it to rank 8 again sooo lazy.

As of 449 ServerTime on Sargatanas there are still more than 30 houses available in each starter city. Only shirogane is full. Seems like the new restrictions are working? Sarg usually had everything sold out within minutes.

There are a few factors as to why the houses arent selling as well.
Main one being they cant use for profit in the future.This was the main reason people rushed to buy houses in previous patches.
Because fcs got first choice its mostly small plots left.A lot of players only complained about housing situation not because of the lack of houses as such but that they only wanted medium or mansions.With all the mansions and mediums gone half of them arent bothering.
The other reason i think is a lot havent realised yet that the way the current system works owning a small house will give them first dibs on getting a larger house next time round with house relocation.
There is also the factor that its Tuesday and a lot of people have jobs and arent home from work yet.

Goblet will probably go later on.I was looking around at plots yesterday and there were a lot of players scouting all the plots for today.They probably like i said are at work or something and havent logged on yet.
3 hours after i bought my plot in Mist for example a player logged onto the plot.There are also players currently waiting on the next houseing devaluations camping outside plots(Cheapskates i know)

I'm sure that's true! It's rough for any NA people playing on Odin too. I'm lucky that my days off are Mon/Tue so I am able to get on at 4-5AM if needed for anything xD but most people are gonna have a rough time getting up in the middle of the night on a work day.

I decided to buy a house in the end to move next to another roe friend.A lot of people seem to struggle with ideas for houses.I went for a Sea wolves theme.So turned my house into a tavern with lots of limsea deco.Many roe npcs and turned all my lighting off and used candles to give a more medieval feel to it.
