I suppose the decades of forced labor, forced comfort women, occupation and oppression are little reason to define any action as defensive... If that's the case i happily take the role of aggressor. Turning a blind eye to that would be the same as being complicit. Part of the reason Ilberd was such a crazy mad bastard was because he knew things were bad for many, even under Gaius's reign. He wasn't in the right using and tricking people as the griffin, but it's easy to see what desperation can do to a person.

Under Zenos things were worse, he only enjoyed the slaughtering of people because he was bored, he only used Gaius's brain washed Ala Mhigan fodder brigade to kill their own people.

Their reasons for doing so are irrelevant to the point - the Eorzeans and Domans struck first.

I agree that opposing the Empire is morally correct, especially given the state Doma and Ala Mhigo were in, but that doesn't change the fact that the protagonists were the aggressors of the conflicts in Stormblood.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned it yet, everyone forgets we are the WoL like those that came before us. They remember the acts, but not the face behind it and maybe only those with the echo remember (ie Scions). Also a possession like what happened with Thancred who also has the echo would be another way to do it. It has been a while since we saw any of those as I don't remember any in SB yet.

I could also see another way, especially with 4.2 and a way to bring us into 5.0 in Garlean lands as being turned over by leadership of Eorzea for peace with the Garlean Empire. I'd love to explore Garlean lands in the future behind enemy lines and that would be one way to do it and have the WoL start out there.

Thancred doesn't have the echo. If he did, he would be right beside us going toe-to-toe with the primals.

Turning us over to Garlemald would kinda be a death sentence to us since the leader wants everything that can summon primals death and they dont have a high opinion about echo users. On top of that we are a major figure against Garlemald so why would they leave us alive or even allow us to travel their country?

Also if the city leaders really give us to Garlemald to have peace..the one person that helped Eorzea the most...do you really believe that the WoL would still want to have something to do with them? How could we visit those places again if we are under arrest from Garlemald? Why would we even still talk to any of the leaders?

Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.

That's more a story issue with us being both the Hero and an adventurer. If you do the various job quests, it's rarely acknowledged you are the WoL. However, most citizens of Eorzea know your face and name.

Peace? Why would that bring peace? The city state leaders, as incompetent as they are, know enough to know that any offer of peace from Garlemand in exchange for our head is a trap.

Exactly. Lets give Garlemald one of our best warrior that saved Eorzea countless of times so that Garlemald can break their deal and attack the country that now has no WoL to defend them. And on top of that this could change the view of the WoL and make them hate Eorzea.

I could only accept such a plot if they dont want to truly give us over but plan to use us on the other side in some way (and the WoL should know the plan).

I think it is sad that people are so unobservant or think the enemies of Eorzea should be able to wipe us out, turn us into slaves and if anyone say a WOL does anything about it they should probably be considered murderers? Our WOLs even seem to understand who and what intends to harm everyone around them and fully agree the enemies need to be stopped even if it means killing them. How does everyone think the WOL should have handled the primal issue. Should they just let their world be run over by the Garleans? Just say nice things to them and walk away? This whole post seems rather ridiculous to me.

how can the Domans be the aggressors when they are being violently occupied? were the Confederacy also aggressors?

it's pretty revisionist to say what happened first and ignore the original Ala Mhigan and Doman Invasions.
