*sigh* It appears you are the one doing all the mental gymnastics here. Certainly, I don't see the WoL portrayed as a murderer in any of the story I've played through. We are consistently shown to be acting in self-defence or the defense of others. If the violence in game feels wrong, and is causing you sleepless nights* , then this is not the game for you.

The same Garleans who, the first time you see them in a cutscene, Nero kills someone he assumes (It's never stated to be a fact) is part of a group of people trying to liberate Ala Mhigo. That's apparently okay, right? Not savage at all.

Soooo...why would our allies turn on us for being to powerful? Many of them are plenty powerful themselves with Raubahn being around our level not-quite-holding-back-level AFTER getting an arm cut off. The only reason they need us is because we have the Echo and thus can't be temepered, if many of our allies had the Echo, or even had it AND us things would be much easier all around. The Primals would be a much lesser deal and thus resources could be focused more on other issues like the Garleans.

We became the WoL because of the Echo. People come to rely on us because we are the best option due to this, and from there see how we can be applied in other situations as well. We aren't just a chess piece though because we have also become allies via organizations as well, with the closest one wo viewed as such was more via childish arrogance that was snuffed out in, not exactly the most ideal way but certainly caused him to grow. As well the closest we have been to our allies turning on us was 2.55...where it was made very clear NOONE believed we were responsible for what happened and thus doesn't even matter at all. Its also been made very clear that our help in both ending the Dragonsong War AND making peace possible for the two sides of the war pretty much makes (most) of Ishgard our staunchest of allies.

They actually indirectly touched on this in the whole Nanamo thing with the transition from ARR to HW.. Not as direct as you're talking about... I do agree it would make for an interesting plot point - people getting to the point of fearing us.

I will admit I am getting a little tired of everyone basically kissing our feet whenever we move a pebble for them. I wouldn't mind the odd mistake, such as killing the wrong person and finding out they were innocent or something :P

are we talking side quests here or main quests? i mean i guess it could be exaggeration but even with all we do people who don't know us normally still question us a bit and keeps up arms length til proven worthy unless said person is friends with a comrade and have a bond between the person suggesting us help them.

not only that when it comes to primals its takes armies to kill one and there is massive casualties but when we as WoL fight them there are no casualties (as far as the game says) and there is much less prep time (well at least not counting first round of titan)

ishgard would have never been successful if a noble house didn't let us in which we built trust from earlier quests in the game.

course a nice twist/something different is never bad but i do believe the story fits pretty well without bringing in too many *welp just for plots this person will do something noone would ever do*.

When peace comes they will turn on us, we're a major asset but whose asset are we.. will we serve the Grand Companies giving them more say with hero of the realm or will we serve Ishgard or Doma or a future land we haven't saved yet, the WoL becomes a political power piece that would grant many favours & ruling "we have WoL so do as we demand" type stuff.

Though we'll never see this since when realm has peace this games story arc will be over & probably start a new story for it in new realm.

So why would Ul'Dah, Gridania, Limsa, and Ishgard leadership turn on us? Just the leadership, it should even be easy to come up with a reason for one of those city-states! Seriosuly, if the Primals were no longer a threat, Ascians gone and Garlemald either peaceful or destroyed WHY would the leadership of those four city-states turn on us?

primals will always be a threat while i will say there has been a slump in the summoning of primals in these last two expansions ( warring triad being already summoned/captured and now the 4 lords technically not being summons)

Then the premise is already flawed given the WoL is the least dangerous option Eorzea has for Primal slaying, but the point was to see what Umbra thinks would be the reason they would kick the WoL to the curb if all the big reasons we are around were taken care of, Primals being included.

we are no ones major asset, we are adventures and good ones at that, we help those in need not intimidate the weak.

while we help everyone/make allies we don't just do anything willy nilly just because someone said so.
