That's understandable, but when the house sits empty for several months...... something is fishy.
I cant really agree with that to be honest - as I explained earlier: Specially in an FC-enviroment it might not be that easy to decorate now, because different people have different ideas and no one wants to take the first step. Or one person said they would do... and then never get to it but everyone else is now "Oh no, John said, he would decorate, I dont want to take this away from him!"
People might also just use it for the benefits, like the garden plots and the workshop - and thats fine! A bit sad when people dont decorate their homes, but... fine.
If the plot sits empty for months, it also seems a bit unlikely at that point that they're gonna flip it - at least to me... I dont know anything about the house flipping buisness, but keeping a plot for several months to sell it seems like a longterm investment, thats not really worth it.
Decorating takes time - I spend a full week with 10 hours a day (lucky me, not having uni-classes atm) decorating my mansion - and it might very well be that people bought their house when they could and are now waiting til they have time enough to really put their mind to furniture.
I remember bugging my old FC-leader for weeks on the topic of finally decorating the house til I gave up and did it myself.
Am I missing something is it required that one must put effort into their house? Or is this just a thing people do when they are bored. I own a few plots and I simply use them for workshops and gardening.
I could do what I did with my SH in tor and just litter it with random junk with no rhyme or reason.

Some of the FCs will be sold later and some people just have FC full of alts and they don't give a damn about the house they just have to have it because why not...
It's just one of the downsides to the ward system is part of your view is other houses, and when people don't decorate at all it can tend to make it look more like a prison than a community. One of the resident botters on our server has collected a ton of houses and for the longest time one of our fc mates lived across from two of their plots (small and a mansion) that just had an aetheryte out front. Combined with the Goblet's already somewhat dreary outside view it was fairly awful looking. If you live near people who actively use their houses it would be nice of you (not a requirement, but I'm sure they'd appreciate it) to put out a bit of greenery at least. A few shroud broadleaf trees to soften the corners of the house and along the wall and maybe some of the new willow trees towards the middle can make a world of difference.Am I missing something is it required that one must put effort into their house? Man even in a fantasy world you cant escape nosy neighbors or HoA's...

I do see where you are coming from, I just do not see the point. What is the fundamental difference between an empty plot verse one that has items littered around it. As for my example, would people complain less if I just threw stuff around my yard without any rhyme or reason, or would the complains shift from having a bare yard to having a crap one.
Also who is to say the home owner would even the greenery pleasing to the eye, so if the owner was to add greenery it would be for the sake of someone else and in the end it is their home. If it is within the context of the rules I personally think others should mind their.
Sorry did not mean to come off as harsh, this topic just struck a raw nerve since on my main server I have been given some flak for having bare bone plots. In the end I just do not see the difference between some complaining about an empty plot verse those that complain about the house glamours. Expect one is attacked and the other is defended as choice. Where do people draw the line between the two.

It's just a matter of what's pleasing to the eye I guess. You want to use your houses as a tool and that's fine, but you've essentially left a parking lot across from someone which can be displeasing for them. Again, tossing a few trees up would probably save you a lot of the flak you're getting and the ones I suggested should be fairly cost effective, but they're your plots and your choice to make. Either way enjoy your houses and may you find peace with your neighbors!I do see where you are coming from, I just do not see the point. Do what I did. The house down the path is an eyesore so I remedied it by putting out a lot of greenery like willow trees and hedges, problem solved![]()
