350 crafted weap confusion

So long story short - leveled up RDM, and treated myself to a 350 crafted weapon.
When I hit 70, I equipped it.
When I received my 290 rewards, recommended gear keeps telling me the 290 is better than the 350.

I just want to make sure the 350 is better.

The one I got is not the one with the extra white icon on it. (Kind of new to the game honestly).

It is high quality weapon? Normal quality is pretty bad. Check what is weapon damage both of your weapons.

If the weapon is NQ, it may actually be worse than the 290. I would have to double check the stats but NQ crafted gear usually has really bad stats. ;-;

I think what you mean by extra icon is the HQ version. The difference in stats between normal quality and high quality is so large that it's pretty much a different class of weapon despite having the same name. The nq is thus much weaker than its item level suggests and is basically a trap to buy. I don't know why they made nq that much worse.

Went to double check but yes, NQ i350 weapons are worse than i290. On RDM specifically it's the Magic Damage that ruins the former: 122 vs. 126.

It's kinda silly how utterly trash NQ gear is.

If you have normal quality you should meld intelligence VI materia to it.

Dang...I wasted that Gil...ok well, thanks. Only 3 weeks away from the 360 weapon from the new raid anyway...better start saving Mendacity.
