Error -2146697208

Nine times out of ten whenever I launch my game this error number "-2146697208" comes up (would be helpful if there were descriptions explaining what each error was). I've looked on other threads and they've all suggested different things like restarting internet, computer or both and that reduces the chance of the error popping up all the time though it keeps. When the game is finally able to be launched it's all well and good, but when next I boot it up the next time the error usually pops back up. I don't want to reinstall the game but if I have to I will.

TL;DR: Error keeps coming up and it's annoying. Tried everything except reinstalling.

Do you get this error when you launch the ffxiv launcher? if on PC have you tried setting your default web browser to internet explorer, from there on clear all cache, cookies and history. Then launch your ffxiv launcher and see if that still shows the error, if it does not login and go into the game, after that you can alt tab and change your default browser back to chrome or firefox etc.

Try a clean boot of the PC, simply go to the task manager, click the start up tab and disable everything, then restart the PC. Make sure that you don't have any other programs running in the background.

You can also try reinstalling, however, save this for last as it is the most time consuming.
