Really hope there'll be more Live letters as well. They are very interesting and funny in the same time.
I'd prefer a well typed out producer letter that is extra long. They have plenty of options on how to take questions; twitter, official forum "ask question to yoshi" thread, youtube, they could even have the newspaper reporters take questions in game.
The fact is, the live letters were pretty much for JP only other than the pretty pictures and video clips we saw. Then two weeks later we get an official translation.
A well constructed "special" producer letter would be worth far more. They can easily create video clips to include, as well as full hi-res pictures that we could examine. Furthermore, it is significantly less work for them to write a producer letter than worry about setting up feeds, cameras, etc.
I appreciated the effort they put forth for the live letters, but overall it was just a big disaster for anyone but the Japanese.
Furthermore, a better option would be giving developers on special systems spotlight of their own. A developers corner "Final Fantasy Friday's" with one or two updates per week would be most valuable. Tells us what they are up to, gives us an opportunity to post feedback, and also keeps the information rolling.

Hai
times a thousand
As much as I appreciate how entertaining and endearing the live videos are, I think I have to agree with Tibian on this one. They are great in theory, but don't turn out so well in practice:I'd prefer a well typed out producer letter that is extra long. They have plenty of options on how to take questions; twitter, official forum "ask question to yoshi" thread, youtube, they could even have the newspaper reporters take questions in game.

The biggest issue is with the translation. The last live letter took two weeks to translate and release. Admittedly, it had some brief bits (mainly the Q&As) translated in real time, catch-as-catch-can, and posted on Twitter. But there was a lot of drama and rage over the fact that anyone who didn't speak Japanese had to wait that long to get information that should honestly have been released simultaneously (the end of the video included some important info--a statement from Wada that confirmed they were considering subscription discounts--which wasn't included in the various 3rd party translations floating around before the official translation was completed). I understand that translations take time. But it's honestly not the best practice to have so many people feel once again that non-Japanese speaking regions are at a disadvantage. One solution would be to shoot the video, but don't feed it live. Wait until the translation work is complete and release it simultaneously across all regions.
Another thing that bothered me was that it felt as though they picked the questions posted on Twitter, even though there was an epically huge forum thread designated as the next live letter question thread nearly a month in advance. I feel a well-prepared written letter would have a better chance of addressing more serious issues, instead of grinning and showing us samples of mounts, armor and a proposed jump animation. Admittedly, seeing those things got me excited. Then, after the video, I was left disappointed that we got more rock star than substance. There were so many more issues that were barely touched upon, and even more completely unaddressed.
Like Tibian said, the live letters cause more issues than they're worth.

People need to stop crying over the translation shit, its sooo retarded... it happens all the time on the forum when devs post in JP, its common sense it will take a while, and if you cant accept it just fking Google it and use your brain to realise what it meant and then WAIT until official one (or Reinhearts, hes pretty epic).
Plus ya know if you all came to xivpads you pretty much get Vid + Translation XD is it a problem that translations are not on the video, but below or too the side of it? haha. Not to mention Reinheart does live ones on Google where you can see what he writes in realtime!!
So stop bitchin, there are lots of ways to understand them.
I hope there is more LIVE, because live is so much better, its so much juicerier, why? Because its LIVE, so Yoshi shows us stuff when he thinks of it, it doesnt have to go through a process, or a possible incorrect translation or even have the dev team say no. He goes "Oh were working on xyz looksee here" n just shows us stuff.
We pull out so much more information in a live letter than we do a normal, because most of it is unscripted and Yoshi is like a kid sometimes and just wants to show off while the dev team look at him with grunting eyes like "noo!!"
Plus they can show us video, even play it in real time, where as live letter is usually a trailer... which kinda sux cuse it only shows clips or specific parts. Not to mention we saw JUMP and MOUNTS in a LIVE letter, (even animations!!), do you get that in a static formal letter? No!
Live letters > Static written.
Without translation I couldn't care less, why don't they have an official interpreter who can do live commentary. Television has been doing that for decades.
