    Lower GCD?

Is anyone else slightly perturbed by the long GCD (it's currently at 2 seconds)?
As an example of what I'm talking about, the flavor of red mage is a fluid casting class that sometimes goes into melee when u get mana up to 100%.

In reality it's a clunky casting cast defined by small spurts of casting and long intervals of waiting for you to be able to cast jolt/scatter/Ver___

Really feel like we could benefit if GCD was lowered by a smidge, ideally half, and I extend this to the other roles as well, especially healing.

For those wondering, GCD means global cooldown aka the interval between any casts you make.

You could do other things in-between waiting to recast more spells. RDM has quite a few insta-cast actions that can easily keep you busy, Fleche, Contre Sixte, you could even throw in Acceleration or Manafication depending on your rotation. The main good thing about the casts of RDM is that it can be very mobile, whilst BLM on the other hand is your constant caster acting as a destructive turret. Honestly every caster has a little downtime between spells, but good players find ways to fill those gaps.

Have you ever tried to use both Displacement and Fleche in the same GCD? It can't be done without delaying your next spell. If the GCD were halved, we wouldn't be able to use even a single oGCD without delaying the next spell.

If you halved the GCD they'd halve the potency. I'm already content with the current GCD, although I'd prefer they remove all animation queues/waits on offgcds so that instants actually are instants.

There have been calls to lower the GCD since the Beta test, and SE even back then stated flatly, "No". So it's pretty clear they're set on keeping the GCD as it is I'm afraid.

And really, it's not that bad, you just have to stop treating the game as an action game and not button-mash, the GCD is a rough analogy to the classic ATB gauge from past FF games. Time your button hits and the GCD should not be a problem.

Most jobs have a significant amount of oGCD things to do between their rotations GCDs.
It's much less boring at level cap.

I figure it's less server stress and gameplay is less affected by latency at this speed. Lowers the player skill barrier as well so you don't need to be quick at hitting buttons and thinking. It only feels too slow at low level when you don't have many attacks to use but feels fine in high level content for most jobs pretty much.

no way, one of the main reason i like this game is because of the 3 second GCD, its what make it special compare to other mmorpg who always 1-2 seconds GCD. for people like me who has slow reflex this is the perfect pacing for us.

if you think 3 seconds GCD is long, try FFXI, now thats an extra slow game

Oh gosh please no as a melee dps the gcd is perfect trying to hit the boss from back to rear is already hard enough during the fight I don’t need things to be faster then that

I would love a lower GCD and wished for it since release/beta. But it will not happen. This game is on PC and console and console is much slower (due to pressing multiple things instead of one). I think the console (not blaming anyone, don't get me wrong ) is the main reason for the GCD.
However as others already stated: on Maxlevel you have more stuff to do between the GCD. Casters- if you don't need to interupt your cast- have a very low feeling of GCD because the cast doesn't realy trigger it, you can just chain cast. If you have to interupt your cast or use instant casts it needs an eternety to cast another spell.
If you don't have your off gcd skills off cooldown the fight is pretty clunky. But they tried to fix that a bit and added several off gcd skills for nearly every class.

Personally I like Monks, Samurai and Ninja. They all can reduce the gcd and constantly have to switch sites that keeps you busy during the cooldown.^^
So maybe try them out instead of Redmage wich definitly feels the gcd due to the instant casts.
