IME, gold as nks hurt new players, not help.Yes, I am aware of this and, yes, I do help new players. However, gold sinks by their very nature are the best way to help new players. The issue with the MBs, and why things are expensive, is generally because of monopolies or near monopolies. This rises the prices of things across the board. Trade wars lower this and help new players acquire the things they need for less gil in general. As I said, crafters get gil capped and they drop out of the market because there's no point. Thereby eliminating competition and allowing more monopolies to flourish. Crafters who are battling each other for the sell will drive down those prices.
Arent the people with multimillions gil accounts a form of a gold sinks themselves?
They are and if you think about it, if you are going to implement that kind of gil sinks, it will not affect the prices of the certain items on the market anyway, since them having that amount of money does not affect the prices at all. They dont buy stuff the low lvls buy, maybe sometimes for glamour but its not something it hold the newbies back with progression.
What it will affect however will be the number of gil farming bots, there will be a flood with them when the players will start buying gils from sellers for real money.
The worse it will be if the gold sellers will manipulate the market prices and lift them up with certain market techniques there are. It will encourage them to farm more gil and therefore there will be more gil running around the market as a result, since the prices of the unique items being so high you need a lot of time to gather enough amount of gil to buy it.
It wont change anything and if so, it may ever lift up the prices of the most needed items by the players trying to manipulate the market and setting the prices of their own.
This game doesnt have money lacking problem for new players, the best items and inventory is only obtainable with the specialized currency or with activity and doing duties. Gils are useful mainly for housing and glamour. As a new player myself i never had a problems with gils, hah to be honest, i have spend more gil already on glamour than on buying equipment i needed, its not hard to get gils anyway and if you do need materia, you could farm them by doing lvling dungeons roullete, or selling them on the market and buy the materia you wanted for cheaper.
