Balmung re-opened

Got up this morning to make an alt for Balmung and couldn't create the character. Locked again or just busy due to how many ppl are playing on it?

Busy. It is still considered a standard world as of the last character creation update: https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodes...06d0909189e479

So if you're aiming to make an alt you're going to have to get on at a super odd time. Like...5 AM EST or something like that.

I thought that if the world was marked with a X that it is now a congested world. I say that because straight after the maintenance was finished and SE updated the status of worlds, every single one had the same O symbol to say they were standard or preferred worlds. Is it confirmed that players can actually make new alts or transfer to Balmung at the moment?

All the O and X are is whether or not the servers are open for character creation. Balmung had an X long before they locked it to transfers.
