Balmung re-opened

So if you're aiming to make an alt you're going to have to get on at a super odd time. Like...5 AM EST or something like that.

I thought that if the world was marked with a X that it is now a congested world. I say that because straight after the maintenance was finished and SE updated the status of worlds, every single one had the same O symbol to say they were standard or preferred worlds. Is it confirmed that players can actually make new alts or transfer to Balmung at the moment?

All the O and X are is whether or not the servers are open for character creation. Balmung had an X long before they locked it to transfers.

If it's not listed under "Congested" it's not congested. The x just means it's only temporarily limiting new characters until activity dies down.

I "had" to transfer a character over too. My chance of being online on times with low server traffic to create an alt are low to non-existent due to time zones.

As hilarious as it would be for Balmung to only be open to transfers for a week, I think it will remain open for a while longer. Give it time. It's not impossible (sadly, or not, depending on your point of view).

I kinda doubt it'll happen. Impression is there's likely enough RP established, plus the boost to gen pop from just not being the dead server anymore, that it probably won't die down so much.

But I can dream of an empty Quicksand.

I second this. I created an alt on Zalera, be it for transfer or a foothold if I got my alts on Balmung directly, and Ul'dah in its entirety was just barren. It was so jarring and unwelcoming.

Made a character on Balmung this morning around 9:30 EST and there were more people in the Quicksand alone than in all of Ul’dah on Zalera.

We have housing plots out the wazoo, at least. From what I saw, everything on Balmung is already spoken for (no surprise).
