Balmung re-opened

Made a character on Balmung this morning around 9:30 EST and there were more people in the Quicksand alone than in all of Ul’dah on Zalera.

We have housing plots out the wazoo, at least. From what I saw, everything on Balmung is already spoken for (no surprise).

True, about half the folks in there were afk.

Piles of sprouts, though, even by preferred world standards,where seeing sprouts out in the world is very common compared to my tenure on Balmung, which could be summed up with “what’s a sprout?”

I...Have to ask, partially because I'm so used to a busy world, but...

Why would you want the world to be emptier? Or is it just a Quicksand thing?

Mateus was my world of choice, quite by accident, but I was quite comfortable with the peace and solitude.

Admittedly, the drop in apparent bots have been one nice positive side effect.

When I came home yesterday, I noticed Balmung was not blocking creation of new characters anymore. Guess I could have waited with my character transfer a bit longer. Oh well ^_^

Yeah I managed to get both of mine in when it was like stupid o'clock server-side. It's not locked by policy, but temporarily gets locked by congestion.

As for how many people transferred? I don't think there was a huge flood of people. I imagine quite a few remained elsewhere simply due to owning a house.

Yeah that would be quite the incentive to remain where they are, especially with Balmung being the cesspit it is when it comes to housing.

I realised I've become sort of...indifferent towards housing. I want a medium or a large plot, not a small. For now, an apartment will suffice for my needs. I just hope they upgrade the size of it as implied and allow for a courtyard or balcony for the use of outdoor furnishings.

Hopefully by the time 5.0 is upon us even busy servers such as Balmung will have the housing shortage addressed.
