We need a community rep that interacts with the community

Since my BLU thread got moved to DPS roles, instead of you know, communication from the mods who moved it, I think at this point, we need a community rep. An actual rep, not someone who pops in every once in a while for an update on the lodestone or to comment on the most heated threads.

I mean an actual community rep capable of giving legitimate feedback from the community to the dev team. Obviously, a lot of the things we talk about in the forums and in reddit don't may not automatically go to the devs, but having someone as a go between us and the devs would be quite beneficial. It seems to me that the devs simply do not understand many of the complaints that players have had throughout this expansion, whether it's due to being lost in translation, or they really are tonr deaf, i dunno, but something should change.

They use to do that. I think after a few years they gave up due to the amount of negativity everything they do gets.

Or maybe the lack of Camate is to attribute to this as well.

They used to give us hints at upcoming content. My assumption is that they were told to shut up, so they could keep the flow of information consistent. Now all content hints are released in Japanese, and if we're very lucky those hints get translated for the other languages.

No, they made the right decision. More than enough BLU threads already where you can post an opinion.

If there were that many they should have started a BLU Feedback Megathread.

But that would require customer interaction.

Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]

While BLU is part of it, this isn't the only reason why I think we'd be a rep. There are plenty of other things in this expansion, as I alluded to, that seem to fall on deaf ears. We really only see mods when they choose to come in and announce that they're locking a thread or want posters to tone down a particular rhetoric. Maybe SE doesn't want a community rep, which is their decision to make.

A dumb decision, in my opinion, but a decision nonetheless. It's not like the rep would have to field every complaint either. They'd just have to know which ones are worth actually taking seriously.

I think they introduced a couple people as NA Community Reps during the last Fan Fest, but I'm pretty sure they only exist for events.

No, we don't. I wouldn't ever subject someone to some of the utter BS that is found on these forums and be the face to take that abuse from unruly users.

Also, we do have community reps. They've wisely hidden away.

So we do have them. Okay, that's good then. That leads me to my next question, which is: are they allowed to bring direct feedback to the devs? Doesn't seem like it to me, but I'm open to having my mind changed on that. I have to reiterate, because I know how these forums tend to go, I am not suggesting that each and every little issue should be addressed and forwarded. That would be next to impossible because anything and everything in this game can become a subject of annoyance to somebody. But at the very least, feedback on something that a huge chunk of the community has an issue about: surely that could at least warrant being forwarded to the devs.

Or maybe that does happen anyway and the feedback is either ignored, doesn't make it to the dev team, or is misinterpreted?
