That brings up a valid point.

We already have too many DPS jobs.
We already have enough healer jobs.
We already have enough tank jobs.

You can look at any MMO out there and see that no matter how many jobs you add to tank or healer - you don't ever change how many and often even who is playing those jobs.

Add a new tank - most of the people playing it were already playing one of your old tanks. Same for healer. Same for DPS really. People really don't shift their role as much.

So when adding ANY new class it is better to think about 'does this add some concept or playstyle not presently in the game?"

So far FFXIV does a good job of making each class/job feel pretty different when played. Compare that to WoW where many of the tanks feel like the same class with a different color icon... and most of the melee DPS feel even more so that way... ranged have some different space, but in each class even there is at least one "spec" (individual way to configure your class) that if used results in making your play a lot like that of another class.
- And it's useful to remember WoW didn't start out that way... Though even "back in the day" they had less uniqueness than the list of Jobs in FFXIV...

I bring that up because a big part of why that happened is in two issues:
1. They did it on purpose to make balance easier in each patch.
2. They just ran out of ideas with their game engine after having TOO MANY classes...

If we start adding a lot of Jobs to FFXIV... the uniqueness of them will start fading...

And then they might 'homogenize' them even more just to make it easier to balance once the list gets too big to work through in a single meeting at the design table...
