    Patch 4.21

So as I can see after some testing the new patch didn't improve the game at all regarding the lags and disconnections. Instead now when I uncap the FPS when before 4.21 it was running on 95-98 FPS although crashed now it has massive drops from 87 to 64 FPS in the same place where it was constantly 98FPS.
What was the point of this update when all it did it made the game worse for us. Crashed in 15 seconds after uncapped the FPS and when capped it still crashed after 20 seconds. I'm not being funny but how the hell are we suppose to play this???

How can SQ just ignore these issues altogether? When are we going to have these issues resolved? Would be nice if its still in 2018!

Most people would consider anything above 60 FPS to be quite good - most computer screens can't show more frames per second than that anyway.
As for crashes and disconnects - are you sure the problem is not at your end? The game is very stable for me at least, with no crashes or disconnects.

yeah I am 150% sure its not my end because I have tried everything and anything. its the 4.2 patch that started this and before that the PC ran the game without the need to cap FPS just to prevent crashes every 15 seconds into the game. its ridiculous

Good morning and thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

To clarify, the game is no longer crashing since the most recent patch? You are only experiencing the drop in fps (in addition to lags and disconnections)?

We hope we can be of assistance in helping you enjoy the exciting world of Final Fantasy XIV!

My friend had issues like this. It was overheating. I mean I drop from 144 to 80 (I have a 144hz monitor on a 1080Ti with i7-7700 - max settings) in some areas....you're still getting at or above 60, which is still playable. Not everything will be fully optimized in this game to hit that high FPS mark each time, esp the older areas. Crashes alot of times are hardware issues, running things to check usage of CPU/GPU and temps are usually the first go to. Esp with recent Windows updates, I've noticed more issues. It could be that too. Windows tends to muck up this game like no tomorrow. Posting your usages and PC specs would help alot in possibly diagnosing your issues.

Thank you for the input silverlunarfox. This could be a possible reason for the frame dips.

I've been experiencing FPS drops since 4.21 as well, and it is not due to overheating. My system temperature monitors don't show any spikes; my CPU barely goes above 50C, and my GPU never gets above 65C. It has happened in a variety of maps. Most typically this is around water, but I haven't been completely observant. It'll slow down for a few seconds, and then clear up again. My resource monitor shows no spike in GPU or CPU usage. I don't notice these issues in other games, including many that are more demanding than FFXIV, nor have I noticed them previously in FFXIV. The issues are also not based on graphical complexity; I've cleared 24-man dungeons like Rabanastre with no FPS drops, and then I'll be doing a random Levequest in a sparsely populated area like Camp Tranquil, and will experience drops every minute or so.

    My system's CPU is an i7-6700K @ 4.0GHz with 16GB of RAM and a GTX 1070 Ti.
