    New Player, quick question.

So I'm still low lvl and have not gotten to terribly far into the MSQ but I have started to notice something with the enemies I am coming up against. They are almost all the same monster with a different name, I can't even count on my fingers anymore how many times I have seen the monster Axe beak renamed..

Just a bit discouraged by the redundancy at such an early stage of the game, does it get better?

Yes, you'll see less of that as you get out of the newbie areas. It never really goes away, because art is expensive and they throw a lot of monsters at you. But you'll see a lot more unique things once you start getting into primals and dungeons.

That is the case for most RPG games, only difference is that they add more skills or special traits to them. Later on it changes a bit.

I would say it does change. Around 38 - 40ish is where you really start to see a lot of different mobs IMO.

This is how all RPGs work, there will be many recolours and remodels using the same base as well. They just expand the number of base models later on, but continue to reuse old ones because it's cheaper and easier to work with in mass.

Uh, pretty much every single video game in existence does this. Every expansion has different monsters it introduces though.

I just started Fishing and I found the variety you are looking for.

1/5 of the budget must of been spent on naming and drawing icons for the different fish. Japan must really love fish.

My personal theory is that there is only one developer whos working on fishing and nothing else. Hes 60+ years old, does all the fishing content on its own and no one has the heart to let him go. So he got his tiny little office with a fishtank and pictures of himself, holding large fish into the camera all over the walls. Hes wearing fishing gear every day to work, too. He only comes to every other meeting, but thats fine, since no one else cares for fish but he doesnt care about that.
Two weeks before each patch, he hands a huge stack of texts and pictures over to the rest and makes the locailsation teams weep because now they have texts for 100 fish to translate.
Fisher guy goes on a three weeks vacation in the meantime - two weeks fishing, one week preparing sushi in this home kitchen that he brings back for the rest of the team. Since his sushi is really, really good and hes such a sweet old guy, everyone forgives him and he returns to his little fishtank-office and draws more fish...

On the topic at hand: yeah, recolours have been a thing since FFI... heck, since RPGs are a thing, most likely.

I agree about re-skins/re-colors of game sprites being a thing in most games, I cant see anywhere I was stating it wasn't a thing. My "issue" was just that typically in most games its not a thing right out the gate. You're typically given a nice variety of monsters before you start seeing the same ones (more so in MMO's). Maybe not so much in the old NES/SNES ones but in more recent games that is.

Needless to say glad to hear more variety will be coming and I love the description of the "Fishing Department" of SE. ^,..^
