Thanks for this tipMe and my friend eventually got it by using the Eternity Ring.
I make my way up the tower, my friend rings to me, I jump down but miss, so I ring up to them, we do a roulette waiting for the rings cooldown to reset, then they jump, get it, I jump and miss, so I ring to them and boom, vista achieved..

I agree with this. The jumping puzzle should be excluded from the required tally to unlock the paintings. I can't do jumping puzzles anymore & certainly don't have 30hrs spare to spend trying to jump up a tower. I got all the weapons, ribbons & materia in VII, guardians in VII, weapons in IX & X etc so I'm not afraid of grinds or puzzles. It just seems like the jumping puzzles are as good as worthless in XIV so I'm not going to bust a gut doing them.

If you don't want to spend time to do the jump puzzle that's your choice.
But don't complain of not having the reward behind it.

Erm, I think you misunderstand the situation. Every sightseeing picture is locked behind those jumping puzzles, it's unnecessary because the rest of the vistas are unlinked, so shouldn't be locked in that way. Only Stormblood behaves like that, not the previous sightseeing pictures.

You cant buy the second ARR-set if you havent completed all of them. (I believe it does not apply to the first set? Since I have completed all of them I cant check anymore though)
I havent completed the full HW-set and I cant purchase a single HW-painting.
So this isnt anything new or surprise and considering the paintings are tradeable, I dont think its that much of an issue either. They're the reward for completing the sight seeing log - if thats not to your taste... the MB is your friend. (Or you find a real friend who unlocked them and buys them for you)
