It's far easier (and cheaper) to change the name and slightly recolor a texture than to create a whole new monster with all new animations and such. Unfortunately recycled assets are commonplace and aren't going anywhere anytime soon.

It's understandable, companies need to save a buck I can't blame them for this. Just disheartening for me personally to see it straight out the gate.
