It may not appear to be much, but at higher levels you have to work at it to use up all your rested xp bonus.
Example:
If we assume that your rest exp bonus is the only bonus you have, then if you kill a mob normally worth 100xp you get 150 xp (100 + 50% of 100). A third of that is the rest bonus.
This means that if all your Exp would come from killing mobs you'd gain 3*1.5 = 4.5 levels before using up all your rest exp.

Most of the time you also get plenty of exp from other sources (quest rewards, roulette bonuses, etc.) that do not use up your rest Exp.
If you have other bonuses active (Armoury bonus, food, Road to 60, items giving bonus Exp) then an even small proportion of the XP you gain will come from the Rested XP - and thus it will take even longer before you use it all up.

Well, I went and played with my alt for a bit. Started the lancer questline from Lv1 and between Road To 60, rested and armoury bonuses (catching up to Lv31 marauder) I was getting something like 500% EXP at Lv15. Went into levelling roulette as soon as I got to Lv16, came out at Lv22 and *still* had a small amount of rested EXP on the bar.
