Ixion Fate and how Roaming Primals could possibly be added.

Before I start I just want it to be known that, while I don't see the roaming primals content ever being added to the game, the Ixion fate did kind of give me an idea of how they could be added if the dev team ever did add them.

So with the Ixion fate, when active, the weather becomes Quicklevin and Ixion appears somewhere on the map in the Lochs. However players are unable to interact with Ixion unless someone has some Stygian Ash. Only then if a player(s) has the item can the shield surrounding Ixion be dropped and players can begin interacting with him.

After seeing this, I thought to myself, why couldn't this work with roaming primals? I mean, we're far past a point in XIV where they could manifest into the world and FATEs seem to be the go to content for the dev team for stuff like this. Aside from hunts of course. So how could it be executed one may ask? Why, it's simple, or at least it seems anyway.

    1) Players log in to the game one day and all of a sudden, the sky and weather in the area is weird and there's a system message asking for any able bodied FC's to report to their respective Grand Company posts or to a specified area.

    2) Any and all FC's with a rank of 6 or higher are allowed to accept a FC specific quest to face off against a primal that has been sighted rampaging throughout a specified region. Once the quest has been accepted by either a FC leader or someone in a leadership capacity, an item becomes available at the the OIC Quartermaster to allow participating FC's the chance to interact with said primal.

    3) So now your FC has accepted the quest and gotten the item needed to interact with the primal, it's time to face off against that primal. The battlefield would act just like that of the Ixion, Odin, and Behemoth FATEs. Players/FC's have until the timer is up to defeat the Roaming Rampaging Primal. If successful, any and all FC's that were active in the FATE gain access to a summoning FC action, able to be used in content such as Diadem (assuming it ever becomes relevant again), S Rank Hunts and other content. FC leaders would have control over who and how the primal would be used.

Should the participating players/FC fail to defeat said Primal by the time the timer is up, it's a instant wipe and the Primal will either continue to rampage until someone defeats it or despawn until the next spawn time.

    4) So you thought it would be that easy to deal with a powered up beyond extreme Primal and it's mechanics? Nope!! Aside from having to deal with it's mechanics that most of us veteran players should be use to by now, Players would also have to fend off the primal's servants, beast tribe warriors and tempered slaves alike. This would require multiple FC's to work together for a common goal instead of just zerging down the primal.

Eureka, i could see that as their way to add it in along with the FC summoning system they spoke about waaaaay back. maybe even add in the Egi glamor system to Eureka where you fight the primal in the wild to unlock its egi.

I personally love it. I’m in favor for almost any open world content. My personal twist would be to make it agro players level 65~70. Keep the low level players safe but it would be fair game if they wanted to start or join in on the fight. I think putting more high level content in earlier zones keeps the game fresh.

I'm not in favor, the server congestion of the Lochs was horrible for months until everyone got it. And once the majority of players gets it, it becomes dead content.

This is my only concern, while its a great idea, server congestion is a thing. And even our server isnt the largest server. The impact on other servers would be huge until every one does it....and its dead.... It's hard to complete some of these now depending when they pop.

As someone who has still NEVER seen Ixion, I'd rather not have more stuff that I'll never actually encounter until they add some way for everyone to actually know it's going on (and if they did that, I'm sure the servers wouldn't be able to handle it). Yeah, I know the weather changes or whatever, but unfortunately the game barely has any reasons to ever leave the cities so that's not very helpful. I did not enjoy doing nothing waiting for HNMs to pop in FFXI, and I will not wait around in a zone for hours doing nothing again in this game.

To specficially address the OP's ideas; I see no reason to get FCs involved. I'd be pretty pissed if I couldn't participate in whatever content because some rando FC leader wasn't online or available.

While it wouldn't bother me, I think lore is an issue - any time a primal is 'resummoned,' as it was with the HMs, it was a Big Deal In The Story. One of the major themes of the whole MSQ is "these Eorzean savages keep allowing eikon-summoning" - if we just had random primals roaming around every 3-6 days, there'd be some Serious Problems. And given that even the extreme primals have been given a lore reason to exist - you're either participating in a computer simulation that makes it harder, or 'reliving' your glory through the greatly-exaggerated stories told by the Wandering Minstrel - I don't think they would buy this.

However, I could see non-primals of this extremity being added, like Odin or Ixion. Or, while this idea would be severely disliked by some, we could add in the primal mounts as fates themselves. Maybe not the prior expansion, maybe wait until the primals are faceroll-easy for max-level players, like the ARR primals. HW ones could be added once 5.0 rolls around. Let them either drop themselves (rare, like the minions in Diadem) or their primal's totems; with Ixion-like spawn timers, it's not like people are going to be able to use it to quickly get their 99 totems, since you could farm up that many in the time it takes the fate to respawn. Maybe add in some primal-themed glams. It would work lore-wise, too, since the mounts are usually creatures sacrificed/gifted to the primals by their followers, and of course once that primal is 'gone' their pets are going to be roaming free.

Honestly, I don't really care one way or another as people will always get bored with something and move on, so while I think something like this would be novel, I don't think it would be a game-changer. It's fun to think of ways things could be implemented, however.
