Translate FFXIV into Spanish

My friend and mine have a project that we are working right now. We are doing a translator app for ffxiv. I can show you a little teaser so you can check it. I have zero idea about quality of the translation but you can tell me about it. It has a lot of languages, we are testing it on russian. Let me know if it's interesting for not-native speakers. We are planning to post it on Reddit when it will be ready.

Can you tell me the name of the app? Or is it an app which is being made by you? It looks more or less fine, but more testing would be awesome! Does it only translate the texts from the cutscenes or is it able to translate everything?

The name of the app is - Tataru Helper.

It can translate everything from chat window actually. You can choose chatcodes that you need to translate.
We are testing it right now on russians (we are russians actually )
We will release it on reddit soon when we will make design for a website

That's actually great! Is this automated translation?
I've lost all hope in an official Spanish translation. I can understand the lore, but I got friends that aren't so great at English, and just know enough to get by in a Business environment, and it's sad to see them skip the cutscenes. It breaks my heart when they do that. This game's lore is great.

I've been playing for 5 years, and as a spanish player I've seen a looooot of people leave the game because they didn't understand the english in the game, and many others wouldn't joing because it's in english too.
I know Yoshida said in a interview this year or last year, can't remember, that they want someone that can speak both japanese and spanish to work with them and translate the game, but there's a lot of people like that living in japan (I have several friends that had been living there for years), I don't think it's THAT difficult to find someone if they wanted to :/

Yeah, I really don't see why they couldn't at least add a Spanish-language text option.

Far fewer people involved and a lot less money when you cut the dubbing out of it, and just hire a translation and localization team. Less of a data burden as well. I realize that financially the market for Spanish speaking countries isn't nearly as lucrative as the English language market when a lot of the world's 500 million Spanish speakers live below the poverty line in third world countries, but it's gotta be at least as large as the German-language market. Spanish would also make the game a bit more accessible to Italian and Portuguese speakers, neither of which are insignificant (Brazil alone has 62 million active gamers per Google).

IIRC the reason stated somewhere on the forums here on why there wasn't a Spanish translation at first was because they just didn't have a localisation and voice-acting team ready back during 2.0 and that currently it would be an insane amount of backlog work to localise (which goes a few notches above just translating, see Haurchefant as an example). Silly reason probably, but that is what I recall reading on earlier incarnations of the same request as yours.

I would gladly cooperate in a free of charge collaboration project to translate dialogues and text from the game to Spanish if SE uses it to at least have a full Spanish text version of FFXIV. I'm sure 99% of us wouldn't care if we, Spanish speaking people, lack of spanish voice acting in the game.

Yeah, we keep saying this every time someone brings up voice acting.
Just translating the text is fine, and it's already a huge task, but not impossible.
It's been 5 years since I've started playing, so I'm not keeping my hopes up.

I just hope they do translate their next MMO into more languages.
I'm sure it's the story leaking what they're worried about, so it may be a good idea to start
looking for a team soon.

Hello Yoshi-P, any news regarding translating the game into more languages? Now with the future release of the game in Xbox the sales will improve a lot, I hope that thanks to this new entry of players you can think of officially translating the game .
