How would have implemented housing in XIV?

- I would leave the Wards, and make them private only
- Then add FC only areas, where the housing was more like buildings of different sizes and not houses. Just have Gardening be instanced like the workshop, make it a greenhouse. The outside would be more static things like plazas, trees, ponds. Less customizable items because there would be no yards.
- Have one large building with instanced FC housing, and access to an instanced greenhouse and workshop.
- I would have left the prices like they were in the beginning, it would cut down on demand significantly. SE obviously never intended on every player having a house when they thought this up.
- Then I would have instanced housing, apartments. One or two-floor loft-type apartments/condos. Just add a gardening bed somewhere in the apartment, or have a community one.
- Everyone would have access to housing, nothing would be inaccessible.

I guess the Sea of Clouds if they could put Wards on their own floating land masses.

ESO housing is amazing and no one is left behind. You can do the same outside, people have set up pvp matches in their house where they build arenas with traps, falls and such inside and outside their house and stream em.

If housing is of uber importance to you, its a game you definitely need to check out. Esp considering housing is account wide and you can own all 39 houses in the game if you want (I have 3...) Bethesda took their time and didn't rush housing and boy did it pay off.

Please just ignore the troll, they obviously hopped in this thread to do just that. Besides, I really don't want this to get derailed or closed, when it can in same way, shape, or form help the devs further understand how they should go about adding more wards or housing areas in future patches and expansions. Plus, I respect and love everyone's take on how they would have added housing.

Moving on, one last question.

Do you think the devs are at least moving in the right direction with trying to solve some of the problems with housing? And what additions or Quality of Life fixes would you like to see added to housing?

For me it would be the following:

1) The ability to friend alts and add alts to shared housing.
2) The ability to assign retainers specific actions/animations aside from just static poses. (This would possibly be a strain on the server load, so this isn't necessary, only if able to add without problems)
3) The ability to place one of your retainers inside your plot.
4) As mentioned earlier, the ability to add private chambers for shared plots.
5) A larger space or second floor for apartments or give players the chance to either buy an apartment room or buy a loft which would be the equivalent of apartments but with two floors.
6) A third floor for small plots if we can't have private chambers.
7) And last but not least, the ability to place the independent minions anywhere in our home.

Edit: I forgot one...the fountain in the Gridania Inn looks really cool and nice, would be awesome to be able to add something like that to our house.

The newly formed fc by new players are happy for this. They are motivated to accomplish lv 6 fc to have an opportunity to buy an FC house. I hope SE will give them enough time to build up and get a hold to a plot before all the bots come to take over the whole ward. SE could not have handled this situation any better with the amount of resources that they have. Surely if the demand is strong and more players arrive Eorzea, they can always add more ward. But personal instance house just sounds like crap and it conflicts with key concept of MMORPG which is mainly about community.

Not grandfathering players,not allowing individuals relocation while moratorium is on,not making it fc only restriction, making it fair & square by not using lame servers restrictions excuses but instead making it so EVERYONE GET 1 HOUSE OF THE SIZE THEY CAN AFFORD WITH PATIENCE & EFFORTS WOULD SOLVE THAT ISSUE. There would be none of this nonesense, i wouldnt have to deal with you at all & everybody would be happy, HECK while i do not encourage this & i dont want this to happen, "I personally would pay 50$ for a house on mogstation" THAT even if it still would be unfair to ppl that cant afford it, it still would be more fair than the current system, S t f d troll.In the end, as i said before, not only this, but the fact that we cant do crap with the houses like turning them around & place them where we want on the plot, the fact that ppl cant make lofts too well without clipping & glitching the game in itself also make it a lame system for housing. Make me laugh some more speaking about bots when clearly you have a better & bigger view on the concept while in the end 1 account, 1house, adjustable plots, better decorating would have nothing to even do with third party programs.Finally, i never even spoke about instanced houses myself but to claim that i dont want appartments & even if i say this here, i sure wont go on the thread about appartments to claim i dont want it.Again s t f d~~

Wow...how lame would that be..."Warrior of light, you have now completed this quest and you can own an instance house. Buy it, decorate it and live in your own dimension....so sorry we can't expand Eorzea to accomodate millions of players housing establishment....what a fun game that would be.
