Having to slog through lvl 50 quests is tedious

So after I defeated the Ultima Weapon and saw the various (and well done) cutscenes, and felt all the feels and was ready to jump headfirst into HW content, I discovered that I have to endure 100+ ARR quests first.

And all of them are boring.

I understand these quests went in while 50 was still the max level, but after all this time, I'm a bit confused as to why this requirement is still a thing. Doesn't SE want players to get to SB content sooner rather than later? Apparently not.

I actually don't mind doing these quests because I enjoy the game and am having fun as a red mage. But I really want to get to HW content as soon as possible. Do you think they'll change this soon?

What if I want to level another class? Don't they start at level 1? I don't want have to go through all this stuff again. RDM was cool because they start at 50.

The MSQ line only needs to be done once, for example you can get to 60 in PoTD before being able to access HW.

I agree though, all those level 50 quests are boring and drove me insane.

To answer your first question, and they did provide a solution: pay for the jump potion and that puts you in the gate of SB.

To answer your second question: unlikely.

Jobs released in 2.0 start off at lvl 1 and have their own job/class lore, HW jobs start off at lvl 30 with their own job lore. SB followed the same trend, just having them start at lvl 50.

    If you say so.

They didn't change it when people complained about them back at the tail end of HW and I doubt they'll change them going forward. Especially with the jump potions being available. That said I do agree with you that the 2.1-2.55 portion of the storyline is a damn slog that bored me to tears.

    They really are.

Unfortunately all of them cannot be skipped and if you ever wanted to start another CHARACTER, you would have to use the jump books to bypass it. Dont worry though, HW and SB MSQ is way more enjoyable IMO and are great sources of EXP. Just make sure you dedicate on Job Class to completeing the MSQ, and save the side quests for other classes.

Those quests aren't boring. They are just as fun and meaningful as all the other quests in the game.

Besides, what's the hurry? It's not like the late game is better than the early game, so no need to rush to get there.

It's all a matter of opinion, of course. I find them boring because all I'm doing is delivering stuff. Basically, just fetch quests. There was even one quest that had me looking for tea leaves. Tea leaves!

I understand what's going on. The Scions are moving from Ul'dah to Revenant's Toll, so they need to make their new home ready. I get it and it makes sense. But man, I just find it tedious.

The problem is indeed that those were "filler"-quests during patches - we were already joking about having to geat tea leaves back then (for stupid Minfilia non the less!!), but it was needed to stretch story in patches... and its probably to much effort to go back and trim the fat now.

Hang in there, HW is much better!
(And as mentioned: you only do those quests once - leveling up a second or third class will be via dungeons/roulettes. Which can be its on way of being tedious... but not to worry: it doesnt take to long!)

Standard business practice; create a problem (ARR slog), sell the solution (jump potions)

I'd post my nine no-jump potion alts but I'm at work. With a tenth on the way.
