I main BLM. I just leveled my RDM to 60. So far I'm much happier as BLM. I kept hearing how awesome it was to have every other skill insta-cast, but honestly, the extended wait from the combined recast timer & cast timer for the next spell just makes me long for a class with more consistent cast times. It is stylish though. Other classes can never screw up as beautifully as a RDM frozen mid-backflip through an AOE.

How I look at it is that every class get's boring eventually. I've played mnk, blm, nin, and drg and having to do their openers thousands of times really just makes me sick of it. It's just a problem of FFXIV thanks to the combo system where every opener is super strict and then you just 1-2-3 until your cds are up again. It's like playing a song thousands of times. I like RDM a lot because while it's a lot easier, it doesn't follow the basic rotation and is pretty relaxing.

I hope no one actually thinks it's ok for red mage to do so little damage because the job is powerful in content like Eureka or Potd. If you actually think this, please stop. Vercure is terrible utility, verraise isn't that much better than SMN rez.

You touch on something I love about this game. There is a class (job) for every type of player.

For every individual who enjoys red mages, there's someone who enjoys black mages, etc... it's a real strength and I hope the Square Enix never homogenizes the jobs to the point where they feel all alike. That would be a serious mistake on their part.

Oh, I don't know about that. I've managed some spectacular deaths on my dragoon. What can I say? It's a talent.

As someone who played red mage since it came out, i got tired of the simple rotation it uses and cure and raise that is rarely used. I was sincerely looking for the red mage that supports the party with spells, has more black and white spells as to other healing spells as well. A true red mage. That real feeling of " jack of all trades"
I never played ffxi but i will try it with red mage, maybe then i will get that true identity of what a red mage is suppose to be because im not feeling ffxiv red mage

One thing I'm starting to notice is that at level 60 in Idyllshire gear I'm pulling aggro from tanks on boss fights. They are usually able to get it back, but I often have to stop DPSing for a bit. I'm sure this won't be an issue at 70. Or it could just be I have some new tanks still learning their jobs, like me.
#1.Pick up Diversion, use it on your opener.
#2.Pick up Lucid Dreaming, use it when your aggro gets high.
#3.Finally, smack dat tank and tell him to do his job correctly.
