Well one thing we could say is Red Mage compaired to other jobs with average players i would say it is not too bad.
A small boost would be nice though and changes to embolden for better group support would be very welcome

I was really excited for red mage, but I'm left a bit disappointed as I was expecting a more flexible mixture of magic and melee rather than melee only being used as the finisher.
i dont deny it, it become boring yes, fill mana bar => 1-2-3 combo => repeat. they should make each melee as separate ability instead of combo
like melee 1 = deal high damage, melee 2 = dot focus, melee 3 = provide group buff, etc.
the more full b/w mana the more it cost mp to cast magic spell, the lower b/w mana the faster RDM mp regen like BLM
and finally no cooldown for corps and displace but instead use b/w mana too, this way rdm playstyle become a drop in drop out style thus a balance between melee and magic, instead of right now is more like 70% magic 30% melee
dont take it to the heart though, thats what i though of RDM when they first announce so i was really bumped out when the playstyle is somewhat boring lol

This is the one thing I'm still a little confused on. When is a good time to charge in? When your mana gauges are both at 100, or when they are above 30 for the enchanted melee combo? It doesn't take long to fill the mana bars, but it's way more interactive and exciting to charge in and flip out as much as possible, I find.
Have no idea what that's doing to my DPS, though.

I charge in when both mana 80+ and one is higher than the other. For bonus Verstone/Fire proc

Depends on what you have going. If I have manafication and embolden up, I wait till I'm over 90, but not at 100/100. That way you can embolden, use Verflare/Verholy, use your proc and acceleration to get at 40+/40+, manafication and then go back in for another enchanted melee combo and another verflare/verholy just before embolden wears off. This is the one thing I'm still a little confused on. If those aren't both up, then generally you'll want to go in for your melee combo when both are over 80, but not at 100, unless there's a tactical reason to hold off for a minute (like the enemy is about to do a point-blank AOE, or a stack mechanic is about to happen)

Situational but normally like winter i go in at 80/84 or something close, however if you go at 100 you can fit 2 Verflares or Verholy in 1 EmboldenThis is the one thing I'm still a little confused on. Edit: Did not see wereotter basically stated the same thing

I'm usually Samurai, but I've been playing my RDM in Eureka. Being able to dps, heal and raise (especially raise) there is just too useful to pass up, especially in a farm train where people are constantly being one shot and melee is a cluster****.

Thanks for the tips. I'll keep that in mind as I get closer to 70.
One thing I'm starting to notice is that at level 60 in Idyllshire gear I'm pulling aggro from tanks on boss fights. They are usually able to get it back, but I often have to stop DPSing for a bit. I'm sure this won't be an issue at 70. Or it could just be I have some new tanks still learning their jobs, like me.
Well, as much as RDM's are mediocre in most content, I feel pretty useful atm in eureka.
