Yeah, so how do you guys feel about the possibility of having FFXIV work along side with PS3 Move when it comes out? Hell, I'd even like it to work out with the Vita as well. Your thoughts, ideas, comments?

Can you provide some examples of what you would use the motion controls for? I can't think of anything, but I do not own a Move.
If you could tie in certain motions with abilities, I will be floored.
Example: Weaponskills... upslash, downslash, side slash... 'jump' (sort of like in sports champions, where you want to jump in the air and stab someone).
Of course, because the game would have to wait (and interpret) what you're going to do, and THEN do the weapon skill, there would be inherent lag in it that would be 'unacceptable' in endgame content... and what if it interprets the WRONG thing? (It happens sometimes.)
BUT IT'S A COOL IDEA worth thinking about.
Now that I reflect upon it, yeah, seems Move would be very limited, but with the PSP Vita, I see so much more!
Controlling our soon to be 5x5 bags from anywhere while we are not sitting directly in front of our PC. Manage our zombi... I mean retainers while out in the fields, even shop on the wards on your psp vita, buy it, and have it waiting for you on your retainer.
And implement chocobo breeding with the Vita as well, that way I don't have to log on to take care of my soon to be flock of chocobo (I'll have a red one, a blue one, and a super inbred one!).
And heck, while we at it, let while we are not using the vita, but on the FFXIV add-on attached to the vita is still active, have the background show a little diddle of what ever you are doing.
My only experience with the Move was a broken Gamestop display, so... my question is does it have Pointer capabilities like the Wiimote does? If so it might be useful to give the PS3 a mouse + keyboard style control method... although I guess the PS3 could just use a regular mouse too.
i had mentioned this before maybe for dol(esp fishing) but not in battle. xp party for move player<can i have it> <no thank you>
Actually, it'd be downright awesome if you could set a few pre-programmed Move motions as macro controls. This way you could have normal control most of the time and hand motions (probably something harsh and sharp that is hard to misunderstand) to control your macros.
I know that I personally have an 'alternate' controller (a Razer Nostromo) wherein I set my macros for rapid use (stuff like self-cure, protect and featherfoot), and having that sort of thing with hand-motions... Dang, even if just for the novelty factor.
Yeah, you guys make great points, even if its just the novelty factor included. And I just thought of it, we could use a mouse... while your sitting on your couch, don't know how comfortable that would be, or you could sort of have a "Pick up your Move stick and select targets.
And yeah, I think the Move could be great to relieve some of the bore from mini-games like crafting and gathering.
But I never really had the move, but I wonder, does it work like the Kinect and allow for voice commands? Cause I don't know about you, but I've been really excited about the new Mass Effect 3 and their "Better with kinect" little promo, I'd like to be able to say to my TV screen. "Map!" and the map would pop up, or target a monster and say "Attack" and go into active mode.
From what I seen, esp with their sports games, there is a pointer function, so it gives players a second option with a mouse, but from what I see on the super PS3 keyboards with their special bluetooth on them, is that the mouse is a little touch pad on the keyboard itself. My only experience with the Move was a broken Gamestop display, so... my question is does it have Pointer capabilities like the Wiimote does? If so it might be useful to give the PS3 a mouse + keyboard style control method... although I guess the PS3 could just use a regular mouse too.
Hint hint: Make us a special FFXIV keyboard that works for... FFXIV! Don't just tack your name on it like that last controller... >.>
I can't see how motion controls would work into FFXIV instead of being gimmicky. Such as, instead of clicking a button, you swing or perform a gesture to perform that action. Yay? Besides there are just so many gestures you can make before it turns into a very long motion which takes longer and becomes less reliable to carry out than hitting a button. I don't see any room for innovation with motions with the existing gameplay.
Another interesting bit; http://extra-credits.net/episodes/kinect-and-move/
and for something funny; http://penny-arcade.com/comic/2012/01/23
I haven't tried the Vita yet so no option on that.
