    Will new AF Gear be Meldable...

    With the release of patch 1.21 in a few weeks and all the wonderful jobs and AF armor. I was wondering whether or not the AF gear will be meldable? OR will it have stats that compare to meldable gear. Has this been addressed?

    As it sits now, anything that we 'work' for.. ie. Ifrit/Moogle Weapons, Coffer Gear... Is gimped compared to regular gear being melded with w/e materia those choose to meld it with.

    I certainly hope that if it's not meldable at least the stats are buffed enough to compare to melded gear. If not.. looks like we just have more 'social' gear..

    Thoughts?

    I doubt they'll be meldable, but also hope for very desirable stats - especially since we'll be able to equip class gear on jobs. I don't want the job gear to become town gear.

    Not all current gear that isn't meldable is gimped in comparison to crafted counterparts though. Most of the Moogle/Ifrit weapons are far better than any crafted weapon even melded. Just the mage ones primarily aren't desirable for the most part, but that's more a concern of mage weapon itemization.

    The gear won't be anything jizztastic, but it'll be a step up. Keep in mind most of this stuff isn't raid caliber. That will come out in 2.0.

    Something to consider as well is that materia has set -slots- it can go into. Meaning that we -may- get (In the case of PGL) INT and/or STR in places where we couldn't meld them anyway. Same goes for other important stats (Att, Crit Rate, etc.).

    If not now, then perhaps after 2.0, maybe they could make a special "set-specific" materia that could only be melded into U/U gear.

    I'd rather have currently unused stats like fastcast, storetp, refresh, haste and most of all job ability enhancements over a materia slot, especially if they put the good ones in slots that dont give very good materia stats (eg, feet for DDs, body for mages).
