I think it's moreso about how it took 15 kills to see a weapon out of 15 options. They wanted to save up too for the mount whenever they let you do it for 99 tokens.

When we know mounts will cost 99 of them and we know the drop rate on said mount will remain terrible for a long time, it only makes sense that people wouldn't want to spend them. Not wanting to spend totems on something that will theoretically drop 1/15 of the time (and you are guaranteed to receive it if you bring the corresponding job, since nobody uses double jobs on Byakko) and instead save for something that will drop... no clue what the drop rate on mount is, but I'm assuming it's 1/20 or worse (and is something that probably nearly everyone in the group will lot on) is not something I would call being greedy; it just makes sense.

thats not gonna happen before 4.4 or later. Until then you can probably kill it in 6 or 7 mins with avg pf groups. Theres no reason to kill it 99 times now, if you only aim for totems

I still think in the end this kind of hardcore grind is not really necessary for MMOs to be successful. It's more a carry over from olden times and having a model where the harder content is more personal, while the group content is more social and about working together than a perfect group performance is the way things should really play out.

If you plan on going for 99 totems for the dog now, you're more than likely going to get your desired weapon(s) at some point along the way.

Yeah took me 15 runs to get my weapon as well where it only took 3 on susano so rng is rng man although I do agree they should drop double weapons.

rngesus shined upon me for byakko ex. In 11 runs, I got mnk weapon, music scroll and dog. Bought War weapon with totems (mnk and war weapons were the 2 main ones I was after).
